v. 1.0

Lego Star Wars combine the mythology, characters and scenery of the legendary Star Wars movies with the popular building block toy. You can play through the entire story of Star Wars Episodes I, II and III using Lego toys. (Macworld)

The first two downloads are the parts of a zipped archive that includes the game disc image and NoDVDs.

The updater is a Universal binary patch that allows the game to run natively on Intel-based Macs.

After this original version was published by Aspyr, the game series was continued by Feral Interactive.

OK Esfratch, I have already got the crack to apply in Mac OS X 10.4.11 and I was going to re-test it in Mac OS X 10.6.8. My Snow Leopard mac is now working again so here is what I did to apply the Lego Star Wars UB crack:

In Snow Leopard using a regular admin account is not sufficient. You need superuser (i.e. root) privileges. Either you can activate the root account (a web search will give you instructions on how to do this) and run the crack from that or you can use the terminal as follows:

Firstly, control click the crack application and select Show package Contents
Then navigate to Contents/MacOS/iPatcher
Once you have the MacOS folder open with iPatcher visible, start up Terminal.
In Terminal type
sudo -s
then press the return key. You will be asked for your password. Once this is accepted, drag the iPatcher file into the terminal window and then press the return key. This will start up the crack application which should now successfully crack the game application. Make sure you select the game application and not the game folder. Selecting the game folder gives the "cannot apply..." error message.

So that is for Snow Leopard. I did not have to go through all this for Tiger which is the system you are using. So all I can do now is wish you luck.

@Esfratch: I originally tested the noDVD under Snow Leopard but I am having a problem with that Mac at present that will not be resolved for a day or two. You have tried under Mac OS X 10.4 so I tried the noDVD patch on my PPC Mac also running 10.4 and found no problems. The patch asks to change permissions that i agree to and then it apples OK. Unfortunately, I could not then run the game on that Mac...I presume my hardware specs were not sufficient.

I know this does not solve your problem but I will try again on my Snow Leopard mac as soon as I can. I know it worked before, but maybe there will be some detail to report that you might find helpful.

Tho patch 1.0A creates a UB I found it would not run on my intel Mac whereas the patch does run on my PowerPC Mac. (I wrote about this already). Maybe the post-patched app be uploaded, so that intellers can use this?

@mrdav. the crack patch 1.0A says "You can't apply this patch on this file".I have an Admin account and a version of Tiger 10.4, could you say me what did you did when you installed the gamer of lego?

@Esfratch. The crack must be run from an Admin account. Is that what you are trying to do? If so what happens when you try to apply the crack?

I follow the instructions of the crack 1.0A to play the game with no DVD but it doesn't work. I think that's because I don't know how to use the crack, can anyone help me to use this crack?

"framerate is very variable..." , I'm with you. This game is very nice, but is a fat hog about rendering power. It shouldn't be that way because I have equally or more technical games which run fine on my hardware.

Lego Star Wars readme says minimum cpu speed (not just recommended, but minimum) is 1.2GHz G4 which will exclude many G4 systems. Even on my 1.6GHz G4 the best resolution 1600x1200 is outright Broken and I must use the second best resolution 1280x1024 or less. I tested downclocking my CPU to 950 MHz via toggleswitch I made, and confirm sluggishness in 1280x1024 and smaller. 1200MHz req could be quite serious.

I find quickly the revision 1.0A fixes at least one bad bug in version "1.0 (PPC-only)" so v1.0A has bug fixes not only its a UB added. I also found that running either 1.0 or 1.0A both kick my MDD-2003's fastest speed out of "memory tax lock-out" so I must rerun my "lock-out" to get high speed returned after running Lego Star Wars. Sort of me-specific and my "AGP-16X" hardware, but I've never found software doing this b4 so sad to learn my "lock-out" high spd routine isn't Fully locked down....

I tried burning the .dmg to 4.7GB DVD disc, but it wouldnt get recognized as authentic. Use the included Krack patches, don't burn another "coaster". I couldn't get the 1.0A krack patch to run on my 2008 intel Mac, returned an error msg. I was able to run the patches on my PowerPC Mac and then transfer the result to the intel Mac. But the 1920x1080 video hardware it has won't allow 1600x1200 nor 1280x1024 game modes, so, 1024x768 becomes its best resolution and I cannot judge if this intel hardware gets sluggish or "broken" with game's 1600x1200 setting.

Thanks for uploading this interesting game. With Geforce 6800 ultra under the ppc DP 2.0GHz, the game is well running in 1200X1024 resolution and playable. But it is little laggy in 1600X1200.

The game run very well on my Powermac G5 dual core 2.0 with Nvidia FX 5200 ultra 64MB.
I can play the game at 1200x1024 resolution but the framerate is very variable depending the stage i play. In Episode I chapter 4, sometimes the game frezze, and you need to finish the race quickly than possible for save game and not obtain a crash.
