Cult text adventure from Infocom. From the rear of the box:
And now ... the next exciting episode of humanoids in space! How did you, a regular at Joe's Bar in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, end up on a Martian moon? Can you prevent the hideous space creature from abducting the naked heiress? Why does scratch 'n' sniff #2 smell so familiar? How many uses can you find for a rubber hose? Is it easy to remove a brass bikini? Is it hard to outsmart a robotoid sumo wrestler? Can you stop the Leather Goddesses' fiendish plan to turn all Earthlings into sex slaves?
Don't forget to download the manual and feelies (including maps and InvisiClues) as well or you won't be able to solve the game.
Included is a self-booting disk image. Write it back to floppy to use on your Macintosh or drag it into your emulator. Also, this game can be played using Z-interpreters, including Zoom for Mac OS X.
CompatibilityOriginal interpreter 'Zoom':
Like 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' (not included in this download), you don't need to configure a Mac emulator to play these games, because 'Zoom' does the job for you, too.
For Zoom, please refer to its homepage at https://www.logicalshift.co.uk/unix/zoom/
Zoom hint:
To get the games recognized by Zoom, please add the extension ".z5" (without quotes) to the application name.
ScummVM:
Starting with version 2.2.0, ScummVM also runs these games.
Comments
This .zip file was archived using MacZip which preserves Mac Resource forks perfectly in a special file called "XtraStuf.mac". Use MacZip to unzip this archive in Mac OS 7.0 to 9.2.2 and you won't go wrong, its here at the Garden.
Zips are fine if the archiver knows what he's doing. See here: http://sites.google.com/site/oldmacarchive/archivalformat
When using the old Mac OS I recommend these programs: http://sites.google.com/site/oldmacarchive/essentials
The included disk image can be dragged and dropped onto the Mac OS (or any other) version of Mini vMac no matter whether it was extracted with MacZip or StuffIt Expander. If you're really die-hard, the image can be used to make a floppy for use with a real compact Mac; it's an exact image of the original disk.
Who uploaded the .zip file? I'm saying this because .zips aren't quite compatible with Mac OS 9's resource forks and I would like at least a .sit file.
Included with some other things I bought on eBay was an original disk for this game from 1986, so I've uploaded a new archive with that disk and various other related docs pulled from around the web.
No it's just the application. The map's available at the Infocom Documentation Project:
http://infodoc.plover.net/maps/leather.pdf
Does it come with the map (which you need to get through the underground maze) ?
