King of Dragon Pass is a 1999 computer game published by A Sharp. Set in the fictional world of Glorantha, it depicts the lives and fortunes of one of several barbarian clans, settling the untamed lands of Dragon Pass over the course of several decades.

The publisher still supports the game and has ported it to iOS. For people who still want to play it under classic Mac OS, they sell CD-only copies at their website for $19.99 (as of 3/21/12). If someone wants a boxed copy with docs, they'll have to look on the used market.

For those with older copies, they have made a version 1.7 update available at http://www.a-sharp.com/kodp/update/mac.html

Okay, I've heard back from the publisher. They said:

"Thank you for asking. You should not be distributing our copyrighted software."

In terms of how to get a hold of KoDP, they offer the following.

"We really suggest you get the latest version, which runs under iOS. "

If someone still has their heart set on the original version, this is their position:

"Although we are no longer printing this version of the game since it's written for a deprecated system, it is not abandonware; it is still for sale. If you cannot find a complete used copy to purchase with all the docs, etc., you can buy a CD-only version from us."

I'll be pulling the download link forthwith.

Thanks for asking the publisher to clear the things. No problems to remove the d/l link here, this is why the 'Purchase' link above exists.
Althought, we're talking about classic Mac versions, not iPhone (or similar) stuff.

Exactly. The publisher says "buy a used copy or buy a CD from us." Seems pretty clear to me. Then again, on a second read, maybe they mean "We're sold out, but if you can't find it by any other method, we'll burn you a copy."

Edit: I just sent an e-mail to the publisher with a link to this page and asking their opinion. That should solve the problem either way.

I'm not sure why we're hosting a link to this software when it's still available for purchase from the original publisher. These links should be removed.

Recited from publisher's website (see a-sharp.com/buy):

The original Windows/Mac version has long since sold out.If you can’t find a used copy we can burn a copy of the CD. The cost is $19.95 (check or PayPal) plus shipping. Please note that we aren’t a retail operation and can’t promise to ship promptly (it may take a day or two). Contact us (customer-support) if you’re interested.

I just wanted to leave a thanks for sharing this great game with us. It is somewhat unique and unmatched. King of Dragon Pass let's you not only play the typical Save-the-world type of hero but instead an individual clan leader in the fantasy world of Glorantha, who can become a powerful king by doing the right things. (but finally no more "You're the chosen" type of stories)

The game itself is pretty complex and needs a lot of reading, so if you're someone who doesn't have the patience for that, stick to Unreal Tournament. Wink I've been playing this for some hours now and with the help of the manual I now begin to understand the game better and better. Like I said, it is unique in its way which makes it a real gem if you love this genre mixture. (RPG / Simulation / Strategy). Amazingly Brilliant!

Ok, no problem.
