A guardian angel enlists you to restore the artifact that provides the land of Aquitania with its unusual luck.

"Jinxter is a text adventure computer game developed by Magnetic Scrolls and published by Rainbird in 1987 for popular 8-bit and 16-bit machines of the time as well as the 32-bit Acorn Archimedes. The game was originally conceived as an answer to Infocom's Enchanter.

Jinxter was originally written by Georgina Sinclair, the sister of Magnetic Scrolls' founder Anita Sinclair who had previously written the novella A Tale of Kerovnia for the game The Pawn, later script-doctored by Michael Bywater."

So I'm about to finish that one on my Mac SE. It's tough at times and some of the puzzles aren't obvious (took me an eternity to figure the worm and dirt thing out!) but it's a rewarding experience. Just a word of warning, it features a manual copy protection so you'll need to download the guardian that is luckily available for download here too. After some time into the game you'll be prompted to "enter word x on page y" (+ on every restore of a save game). That was so annoying already back then!

Other than that, it's a cool game that I really enjoyed but it's not the master of interactive fiction, so a 4 out of 5 is fair. My appreciation goes to the uploader of this classic and now I've got to figure out how to get that certain item out of the bakery ... Smile

There's a neat interpreter program called Magnetix that allows you to play these old Magnetic Scrolls games, whether or not you've got the right hardware, BUT it requires OS 10.4. Crying
