Guides on emulating older games

Hearts of Iron is a grand strategy computer game developed by Paradox Interactive and published by Strategy First, set in the years 1936-1948. In the game you can control any one nation as World War II unfolds.

Gameplay revolves around surviving (either before or during) World War II, and the player may cause or witness events different from how they historically occurred. Hearts of Iron is considered an alternate history game.

The 1st DL is the German version
The 2nd DL is the English version
The 3rd DL is an updater for the English version
The 4th DL is a no-CD, but it is not necessary to play the game as a mounted game disc image is sufficient.

Architecture: PPC

Mac OS 9.2.2 or 10.1
PPC G3 CPU with 333 MHz
128 MB RAM
8x CD-ROM drive

Runs fine under OS 9.2.2. Is supposed to support (early) OS X versions as well, though couldn't test it yet.

Thanks a lot for testing, SwedeBear! Here's my experience: Tried to unzip it using The Unarchiver and it'll complain about a resource fork related error. Keka will unzip it, but lead to the error I originally reported here. StuffIt 8.02 did the trick for me, though - unzipped and the updater would run. Picky zip file ...

Confirmed. Unarchived with Tigers internal utility and started.

Can anyone confirm the box updater (download #3) to be working? I'm on 10.4.11 PPC and the app won't start up at all, spitting out a "launch failed with error code -2857" in the console.

Protect the environment! Use no cd patches! Like the one I just uploaded to here. It's a .dmg, so it'll probably only work with OSX. Just mount it and start. Tested to work fine on 10.4, won't work on Leopard and above though.
