Full Throttle is a classic LucasArts point & click adventure as they were popular during the 1990s. What others say:

Full Throttle may not be a "pure" adventure with its arcade elements and timed sequences but it is fun to play - and that's what really matters most. The age of this game shows a bit (especially in the graphics department) but even so, Full Throttle remains a game worth playing. - From The JAVE

Full Throttle is a pavement-peeling adventure about the leader of a motorcycle gang who is framed for murder. The title represents LucasArts' first all-digital, fully interactive soundtrack and features a multichannel soundtrack, an ear-rattling rock and roll score and original sound effects. Together, these elements create a complete sonic environment that brings the action-packed adventure to life. Macintosh Multimedia & Product Registry Volume 9, No.4 - 1996

@IIGS_User: It kinda felt like it back in the 90s. Smile We had to go 70km to a Gravis store in Munich to get whatever hardware/software, which was quite the trip for some shelf browsing. Plus I assume most Macs in Germany during the 90s were only dedicated to DTP / layout stuff and not used as gaming rigs. After all, even the LC / Performa lines never really picked up around here (compared to the U.S.) You ever met a fellow Mac user in Germany during the early - to mid 90s? Smile

@MikeTomTom: awesome job, sir! Thanks for fixing that one and explaining as to why it wouldn't properly work. So next time I'll give Disk Copy a try, it didn't come across my mind at all. I thought the image was corrupt.

Anyone else having any problems getting this image to run?

The problem with that original US copy is that it was created using Disk Copy 6 compression to form the image file of the CD (prior to stuffing as .sit). This meant it was not mountable in an emulator's GUI, or by using the Virtual CD Utility to mount it. Also, once extracted from the .sit, the image caused Disk Copy to report bad checksums and refused to mount it, until I turned off checksumming in Disk Copy.

Once mounted, I recreated the image as a .iso file using the Virtual CD Utility on my G4, running Mac OS 9.2.2

This worked and it now mounts as a Virtual CD on the G4 and plays the game properly. I've archived it and added it it to the page as the 3rd DL. As you can see, the sit archive is now approx. the same file size as the German copy you uploaded.

On my G4, the sound was stuttering badly. But after turning virtual memory off, the game suddenly started playing correctly. So turning virtual memory off in the Control Panels might be what is needed to get this to work correctly, too.

If the recreated US image meets with approval, then we can likely remove the original upload, as it's a bit iffy.

Yeah, at that time, we three persons were the only ones in Germany who used to use Macintosh computers. Wink

Just added the German version of Full Throttle (called "Vollgas") that I scored on ebay for uploading here recently. The German version is completely localized, which is amazing if you think how tiny the German Mac market was during the mid-90s (probably just IIGS_User, me and some other guy Laughing out loud ). I seriously wonder if it turned up any profit ... anyway, image size differs to the U.S. version here. Might be because of localization - might be because it is incomplete. (See my posting below about that). Anyway, viel Spaß mit dem Spiel! (have fun playing the game)

Anyone else having any problems getting this image to run? No matter if burned on a real cd or mounted, I get a "Unable to initialize smush engine -8" error. Redownloaded, burned a second copy but the error remains. Is that just me or is it the image ?

Full Throttle was re-released in 2017 as "Full Throttle Remastered" by Double Fine Productions. It's remastered for widescreen and improved artwork for modern displays. The new version is playable on PC, Mac, Linux, and PS4. You can purchase it on Steam and other stores at this link: http://fullthrottle.doublefine.com.

Or this

Better than Toast, which would be like shooting birds with cannons.

and if it could be a img that mounts on mac os 7 or 8 would be great

You would need Toast or Disk Copy 6.5 to mount it. In Toast format, it could be simply added to the emulator's drives list, so please keep .cdr format.

You need to burn the game on a cd first. If you don't have it, get toast from this site. Insert a blank CD-R and Toast should open. Now import the .img file and burn the disc... should work fine Smile

It doesn't run on my imac g3. Not even on my powermac 7500/100. I mount the .img file and when i try to run the game it says that it cannot find the cd
