"The long Falcon simulation legacy of hardcore simulations of the F-16 fighter plane begins here. The plane's electronic displays and radars are simulated fully, with 4 styles of HUD. Not only can your plane barrel-roll and scissor, the enemy planes can too, with Artificial Intelligence recreating the moves of a real pilot. This was one of the earliest games to offer head-to-head play by linking two machines. It comes with a massive manual, detailing all those functions." --MobyGames.com
The second archive available is of version 2.2.2 and should work not only on a Mac Plus (and Mini vMac) but at least with some of the Mac II's. Archive includes DiskDup+ images of the original floppies; files need to be copied from each into a "Falcon" folder on your hard drive, then click "Start Falcon" to run it. Also included are PDF versions of the entire 150+ page manual and box contents.
The 3rd archive contains two DA's (Desk Accessories, remember them?). One shows the Falcon map with the mission names and waypoints. The second displays the Falcon key commands for control of your F-16.

CompatibilityMac Plus or later, black & white capable display.

Did you set the monitor to 1bit b&w via the control panel?
After the Intro-Screen I only see a blank-screen with a white square on my LC (6.0.8.)
where is the trick?
Seen the yourself comm now, as we users not 24h online.
About the speed setting from within Mini vMac, this is completely true.
Okay, I'm having a conversation with myself here, but hopefully all of this can provide some guidance for others in the future who may run into the same issues.
You can control the speed in the emulator by hitting ctrl S and then selecting the speed of your system. This can be used in all games, apps, etc. and is incredibly useful...
Have fun!!
I remember being pretty good at this game when I was a kid, I could take down a few migs on every run, etc. but I just tried and have no idea how I could have done that based on the controls and experience I just had. I could barely keep the plane in the air. Perhaps there's a way to slow down the game? Maybe that old processor ran it a lot slower?
Argh! Just follow directions!! I put all files into a Falcon folder on a blank disk (1440k) and launched Start Falcon... and voila!! I'm FLYING!!
I can start the game and get to the very beginning screen (screaming falcon) but then I get an error message about "Abnormal Operation" (when using disk 1), or using disk 2 I get to the Duty Roster and then the beginning screen to select my mission but when I click Armament, I get a system error of "illegal instruction". In both cases, it crashes to the emulator desktop once I click "resume/continue".
Any ideas? I'm so close... and this game was such a big part of my early childhood!! Help!
Great game , runs in Mini vMac with a great FPS rate at even x1 speed .
Can't you upload the manual separately, instead of packing into the game download?
Got it in Mini vMac only. Bas & Sheep both quits immediately, on my computer.
P.S. Replaced download by Disk Copy 4.2/Stuffit 4.0 image.
Anyone have any success running this is an emulator? I haven't.
