Emulation
Guides on emulating older games

In the first game, a team of adventurers struck an unexpected blow against the Empire that had banished them and thousands of others underground. Well, guess who just struck back?

The Empire realized, overnight, what a brood of vipers they had given birth to. There were two reactions. The first was sudden. Nobody else was teleported below. The misfits of the surface were kept in prisons, rather than caves.

The second reaction came five years later, after it became clear that Exile was surviving just fine without fresh people from the surface.

The Empire invaded.

Teleporting people into Exile is a difficult and draining task, and so Exile was not flooded with enemy troops. Still, the soldiers that did come down have already taken a quarter of Exile, and are moving steadily inward, taking cave after cave and city after city. If nothing is done, Exile will be doomed, and you with it.

Your job now is not to fight the Empire, however. You have just arrived at Fort Ganrick, a tiny fort in the furthest outskirts of your nation. Your job: help fight a den of Nephilim (savage, feline humanoids). Thankless and dangerous work, and far from dealing with the great threat you all face. However, it is possible that circumstances will change. It is possible that chance will seize you and pull you into the center of the story you are all living. Perhaps something is about to happen that will shake everything apart, and you will have to put it back together again...

While version 2.0.3 is the definitive release of Crystal Souls, version 1.0.3 was the last release prior to the graphics being overhauled. (Versions 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 are also included for archival purposes.)
