Guides on emulating older games

Evolution is a two-player game where both players try to fill the board with their amoebae.

  1. You can only place a new amoeba in an empty cell or in a cell you already own.
  2. The cells can only contain a certain amount of amoebae. If you add an amoeba into a full cell, it will cause an evolution.
  3. An evolution causes the amoebae that occupied the cell to wander into the neighboring cells and take them over.

This game took third place in the first annual uDevGame competition. Its author wrote a postmortem for iDevGames.com.

Source code is available as the second download.

This seems to require a very early version of Mac OS X. It would not launch under 10.4.
