This is a custom engine to use with the data files from either retail versions of Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition, Mac or PC. It is for PPC Mac OS X only.

If you don't have a retail disc, the installer can also install the shareware data files, which leaves you with only episode one, and various other shareware nagging.

It works on my computer running Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.8.

download the version labeled lion

once downloaded create a folder in your applications named Duke Nukem 3d copy all the eduke files extracted into the folder.

you will also need to know terminal commands and have to show all hidden files in Mac OS X

your next step is to show hidden files go into your user folder on your Macintosh hard drive select your name then look for a .config folder .config will only appear if you have hidden files shown

once inside the folder look for the eduke folder open it and copy your Duke Nukem 3d grp file into this folder

TIP: You can force mouse looking by binding the Mouse Look key to CapsLock.

Also note that the installer requires a physical disk to be mounted. You can bypass this by doing the following.
First run the game installer and have it install the shareware data then open up the game installer via "Show Package Contents" and unarchive the "retail-binaries.tar" file. Then go to the Duke Nukem 3D.app that was just installed and again, select "show package contents". Copy the resulting "Duke Nukem 3D" & "Build" files from the retail-binaries archive into the "MacOS" directory within your Duke Nukem 3D.app. Finally (assuming you already installed Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition in Sheep Shaver or whatever) search the classic Duke3D's data files (located in the folder labeled "Duke Files") for the file "Duke3D Group" and rename it "Duke3D.grp". Now copy it just outside the "Contents" folder of your Duke Nukem 3D.app where the shareware files are currently located. Click yes to replace the existing file if asked. And finally sit back & enjoy.
Optional: There's also an archive called "retail-demos.tar" within the installer that contains the title screen demos. They aren't necessary to play but if you want them for whatever reason you can install them the same way you did the Duke3D.grp file (drag it just outside the contents folder and click yes to replace if asked).

You need to have downloaded the original disk apparently as it keeps asking for a Data Disk...
