One of the gaming store chains here still has Diablo box sets on the shelves. It contains Diablo, Diablo II, and an expansion pack or two. One of the few games they sell that work on Macs - another is the equally as old Warcraft Battle Chest box sets. Smile

But it only runs under Windows.

I think the Diablo series is the most replayable games made.

DieBlo the Diablo 1 Item utility for use with Diablo 1.04 is uploaded as of October 2013. It has just about all the unique items as well as potions, spell books, gold - pretty much everything you need to build a fun character.

Excellent find.

Two downloads - I believe one is an updater, one is the updated files.

From a time before broadband, the difference between a 1MB and a 2MB download was immense. Around the same time, I spent a whole week downloading an expansion for Myth II: Soulblighter.

As a new mac user, I couldn't figure out how to get the screen resolution to stay at 800 X 600 instead of changing to 640 X 480.

If you hold down 'option' while double clicking diablo, it will bring up an expanded preferences menu!

Also, here is the BLIZZARD link to the manual:
ftp.blizzard.com/pub/misc/Diablo.PDF

And from there you can get to all of the patches by going here:
ftp.blizzard.com/pub/

I'm not sure why there are two patches for 1.09, but if anyone figures it out, please post!

I hope this helps!

Was Hellfire ever made for Mac? If so please upload.

by 24bit - 2011, July 23 - 9:50pm

Mount the CD image with this: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/virtual-dvd-romcd-utility
That will make it work with SheepShaver.

by bertyboy - 2011, July 23 - 9:21pm

Mmm, don't know about SheepShaver, but this always worked for me by inserting the CD, or by mounting a locked Toast image of the original media. The same is true for almost all Blizzard software.

by yerbs06 - 2011, July 23 - 8:52pm

I downloaded it, installed using Sheepshaver and it installed. When I run the game, it asks me to insert CD. Does anybody know where I can download a patch for NOCD, or how I can fix this? Thanks

Ok, I have the Guitar Partiture of this song, so I'm gonna play it along the game

Euryale,

Unfortunately, the soundtrack is Tristam, from the Diablo II soundtrack. I remember Diablo having a similar soundtrack, but this is not it.

I have all 27 tracks from the official Diablo II soundtrack and 3 of the 5 tracks from Lord of Destruction. It's about 103MB in total. If only I could find a better way to rip them from the game cds.

But I'm sure you can find everything for Diablo I on Kingdom Hearts.

The full Diablo II with LoD soundtrack is at the official Arreat Summit.

No, I have not played that game, but I love Music in Video Games like the Silent Hill's (Akira Yamaoka)
, Resident Evil, has good themes, But as I said The shadow of the Colossus is just incredible 'cuz
that's the kind of Music that REALLY transports you into the world of the game.

I'm gonna heed what you said and buy that game (soul reaver)

Try Virtual DVD-ROM/CD Utility.

by marcogiannini - 2009, September 2 - 4:10pm

I also tried to pass the .toast file in toast 4 (running in 9.2.2) but it do not open it....

plz hlp m ..............

by marcogiannini - 2009, September 2 - 3:52pm

well, it seems it's a neverending story, but I'm so determinated!

This morning I have downloaded a bit torrent app for mac osx, and just reached to download diablo stuff. I wish to run it on a mac running in 9.2.2, where I stored a lot of other marvelous games from your precious site.
But I downloaded a toast file (diablo Cd.toast), so I need to go in Mac OS 10.something to expand it, isn't it?
So when I expand it and get back to my 9.2.2, the installer says 0kb needed to install Diablo application, and obviously do not install it; also if I try to install Diablo spawn (the Demo) the installer abort the process.
Maybe I need an old version of Titanium toast running in 9.2.2? I retrieved infos about it in some forum, I need v. 5.1.2, but I can't get it anywhere (now Titanium release v 10!!!)

So, how can i get diablo? Where is the error?
thank you so much in advance
m.

Hmmm, strange...
I try once more in my office.
From Windows: work fine.
From Mac OS X: 0 seeders.
From Linux: 0 seeders!
Why?
Its not possible! In my home my computer still seed!

At Mac and Linux I use Bittorrent application.
At Windows I use uTorrent app.
Maybe here is point?

Euryale's picture

My country (México) doesn't ban nothin' or TBP's,
but this game and Myth II are giving me a hard time, or I guess no one is seeding.

--------------

Well... Finally someone's seeding, THANK YOU!

I promise to seed this back for a week (Soo many games, soo little HD space Tongue)

TataMisia's picture
by TataMisia - 2009, September 1 - 4:22pm

Not to all kiddind. Some ISP filters torrents ports. Some countries banned TPB connections.

Torrent works, if not changed? I am seeding and I'm already at a ratio 6.08. I'll keep it up and running for at least another week or two. But please, when downloading continue (!) to seed it. Otherwise it will be gone as well real soon. Oh and every now and then I have to turn off the computer. Simply try again then Smile

Great game by the way!

MacWise's picture

@marcogiannini: ISP = Internet Service Provider, the company that gives you Internet access. And he's just kidding. Changing ISP won't make the file available. As I told you before, all you can do is keep trying. You can also wait until the file is once again available from here. Yeah I know those options sucks, but unless you want to get off the abandonware train and buy it from some retailer, that's all you got.

by marcogiannini - 2009, September 1 - 12:13pm

sorry, i'm not able to change it. What is ISP? How can I change client?
This is the list of option actually I can see:

Bind to IP
Check Hashes
Forwarded Port
IP
Max Incoming Connections
Max N° of Open Files
Peers - Max
Peer - Min
Port - Max
Port - Min
Re - Request Interval
Upload Rate Max
Upload Unit Size
Uploads - Min

... And really I don't know what it means...
What I havo to change? Where? Ehy the hell it goes ok for Myth and not for Myth II?

TataMisia's picture

If you use for free iMovie 3 - you are good (for free in system Mac OS X)
If you use for free i Movie 1 or 2 - you are bad ! (commercial !)
You are bad and stiller.
And drunker... because every stiller is drunker...

I understand. Somebody here has mentioned that they require the software to also be two revisions out of date before it's considered abandonware. You can take as many of these guidelines as you like, or invent new ones of your own, the more the better.

But, back to the first point, the site is about the preservation of old Macintosh software, rather than providing free Mac software for all those that want it. And as for preserving old Macintosh software, piratebay torrents is not a solution in any way.
