Your task is to reconstruct a geometric figure that has been scrambled by the computer, by moving rows and columns. Shapes and moves become more complex at each level. The tensions of the day dissipate as you are drawn into the ever more engrossing puzzles of Cogito's geometric world...
For a spiritual sequel with radically different board layouts, including hexagonal grids, and a layout editor, try Poly-Dol.
There is a Newton version of Cogito available at the United Network of Newton Archives.
CompatibilityRuns on Mac Plus or higher including 9.2
Colour Macs must have the display set to 256 colour mode and 640x480 resolution.
On double-clicking the game it plays a silly sound. Click the mouse often (may doubled) and the game window appears. For those, who have problems with opening the game under OS 9.2: You have to click the "invisible" frame in the highest point you can get by scrolling your mouse. THEN the game will start without any problems.

I loved this game as a kid, even though I never made it past level 8. I need to try this again.
Runs in SheepShaver running Mac OS 9.0.4, but while it runs, it appears that I can't get the music to play in-game (the music plays, but once you obtain control of the game after furious clicking on the menu bar, the music stops)
EDIT/24-7-15 - Though I'll mention that this game runs fine at least under Basilisk II running System 7.6
Yep, no problems running it under Mac OS 9, but there are a couple of things to bear in mind:
Having said that it is a rather frustrating game. To make the levels harder it quickly starts doing weird things like swapping the axis of the rows/columns the game board arrows control, moving rows / columns by two squares instead of one, etc.
If you're looking for this type of puzzle game for Mac OS 8.5 upwards, then Ponere is probably a better and more polished version.
Agreed.
Now available is a new archive with full documentation and disk images included. I don't recommend using this game with OS 8 or 9.
Challenging puzzle game... as the levels progress, the challenge quickly becomes much more significant. Well worth download for puzzle fiends.
