Chess II will not work with Mini vMac if the amount of memory is not sufficient and works best in colors because the board is not drawn correctly in black and white with all the emulators.
For Ricochet, only runs in 256 colors with system 7.
Comments
Hi Katie,
Well, I'm going to DL these now. Of course, I will test them & give my results.
[EDIT] Ok, so, Chess II can works with all the emulators. But, in Mini vMac, it quits if there is enough memory for lauching it. And then, the message "Fatal Error, I can't create the bitmaps. Try increasing my memory partition in the Get Info box." happens... However, there is no interest to run it in B&W as the board doesn't appears correctly.
Ricochet, as expected, runs only in 256 colors & doesn't work with Mac OS 8 nor 9. With Mini vMac, it runs in 256 colors here again. I have attempted to launch it in B&W. The results is the message "Sorry, a system error occurred. “Ricochet 1.0” unimplemented trap"... But there is two others versions here of this game : Ricochet & Ricochet 3D
Chess II doesn't work on my Macintosh Classic; it throws up an out of memory error message. It worked fine on my other equipment. Also, the Ricochet game only works on Mac OS 7 and that one only plays in colour, but Ricochet plays well on my Macintosh Centris 650 (68040) running SSW 7.1. If anyone out there is willing to test Chess II and Ricochet in SheepShaver, Basilisk II and Mini vMac, go right ahead and let me know the results! Thanks! The uploader of these games will appreciate it!
