Thanks but sorry,
I made the bin.cue off my original disc and I tried to upload but the PC I´m using is extremely slow,
I´ll try later.

Scroll down where it says "game file" then put your file in the box.

"Upload to here"

How? I tried to upload using the edit page, but I don´t see any Upload button.

Remember, I´m using old Windows XP with ZIP and RAR compressors

Use .ZIP please, Euryale. This is the only compression format that can be extracted (safely) across all OS platforms, including on classic Mac OS.

Upload to here Smile

by mrdav - 2014, April 14 - 11:20am

That's great Euryale.

Use any compression you like. Since this is a bin-cue, downloaders will have to burn a physical CD anyway, so they will probably use a modern computer to do this...and modern computers have applications that can handle most compression formats.

Where to upload...upload here. There are no more limits (Well up to a point, as I think Balrog said in a recent post that individual files probably should not exceed 1 GB)

Edit: Balrog's comment is in this forum.

Ok, I used UltraISO and made a Bin.Cue image uncompressed, now what?
I have not test it

a) should I compress it?, in what format?
b) upoad?...where?

Remember, I´m using old Windows XP with ZIP and RAR compressors

by mrdav - 2014, April 10 - 11:12am

Hi Euryale
Welcome back! I fear that new postings are getting lost in the deluge of modified page entries.

An alternative to ImgBurn is to use UltraISO. It is free to use unless you want to pay. It will make bin-cue pairs from multimode CDs such as Carmageddon (or from any other CD for that matter). I use it a lot and have never had a problem.

HiYa Euryale, hope you're enjoying your vacation. On an old XP box I use ImgBurn to make iso's & bin/cue files of Mac & Hybrid CD's.

ImgBurn will work it out correctly with very little need for you to do anything. That is, if it needs to be bin/cue it will create a bin/cue file without you needing to work out what it should be.
BTW, The Carmaggedon CD will result in a bin/cue file, which you can then zip before uploading.

I suggest using an old copy of ImgBurn because newer releases have adware toolbars it wants to install & the the latest version is the worst with OpenCandy, so if you DL this just beware.

The last version before it got adware installers was 2.5.0.0 which you can DL from OldApps. It works great with archiving Mac CD media on XP.

HiYaAll!!
Well, I´m bÁaack! and taking my vacations in Mexicou ciity, and I´m so glad I found My Original Mac CD´s intact including this one (Carmageddon) so, just tell me what should I do and how to make a correct working game CD image,
But, since I´m on vacations, I didn´t bring my main computer so i´m stuck with an old and slooow PC with Windows XP and a CD burner (I think that should do it)

...and by the way, these are the other original Mac CD´s I have:

- Mac 4 Pac (battle chess, Check Mate, Cards Game, Out of this world)
- Flashback
- Unreal
- Duke Nukem 3D
- Duke it out in DC
- Adobe Pagemill 2
- Mac OS 8.1

Someone wrote an Applescript to incorporate the Splat Pack expansion for PC into the Mac version of this game. Unfortunately, I have found that it does not work with Mac OS 9.2.2 (the author only claims that it works for OS 8 ). Can someone can get this script to work? If so, then we can upload both the revised script and the Splat Pack image here as well.

by mrdav - 2013, November 17 - 11:21am

OK, I have made a mixed mode CD of this and uploaded a bin-cue image of it. I made the CD using an image of the game partition available here and the audio partition from a PC version. There were two versions of the game image here...one had the wrong dates on the Desktop data files while the other (restored by Thu) had the correct Desktop file dates but contained OS X artifacts. So used the one restored by Thu after deleting the invisible OS X files. The audio part was a bit more difficult to source. All the PC versions of Carmageddon 1 that I could find were for the Max Pack edition which has one extra audio track. However I determined that the extra track was the last one, so I took an image of the audio and deleted the unwanted track to get an image of the audio partition with the correct 7 tracks in the correct order. I will see what I can do with Carmageddon 2 shortly....Done.

by mrdav - 2013, September 25 - 10:17pm

One thing is certain is that it will not have the audio partition included as a toast or iso file cannot capture that.

Downloaders, please report back about Thu's upload.

by Thu - 2013, September 25 - 8:17am

Not sure if this is the file everyone is looking for or not, but I figured I should put it up just in case. It is "Carmageddon.toast.sit" and I downloaded it from here a while back. It has an Oct 2010 date in the Finder and is 138MB. Hope this is it. I don't have time to try to test it out on my old Mac.

Here is the Read Me from the mounted image:

Carmageddon Readme File for Mac Ver

Installation

The Installer uses Apple Installer Ver4. We recommend (if you have the drive space) to simply drag and drop the Carmageddon Folder from the CD onto your Hard Drive. This will take up approx 300 meg. After it has copied across you can delete the CUTSCENE folder from your HD (this will give you another 89 meg back). We have found that this is A LOT quicker than using the install program.
NOTE - The custom remove option in the installer app doesnt work. If you need to remove Carmageddon (God forbid) then simply drag into your waste bin as usuall.

NOPE, Euryale went with Megaupload because of SOPA.

Ah, so Euryale seems to be our only hope for rescue here, then (for a full bin/cue addition) ATPIT. Euryale?

by BreakinBenny - 2013, September 20 - 12:12pm

Yes, the link on http://macintoshgarden.org/games/carmageddon-1 is a Demo version. I got permission from Toshiba-3 to put it here.

http://www.grenier-du-mac.net/fiches/Jeux/Carmageddon.html click on the link at bottom of this link's page labeled "Télécharger" (French language = Download). Is this a demo?

by BreakinBenny - 2013, September 19 - 2:34pm

All I see HERE is the Demo version, the others went with Megaupload... But appreciate the link despite not containing music!

by BreakinBenny - 2013, June 1 - 11:09am

Anyway, the Megaupload links are dead and I could use a re-upload. We should ask WarriorRazor (Razor on Carmageddon.com)

MikeTomTom's picture
by MikeTomTom - 2013, May 4 - 12:18pm

No its not. The link is in plain English just above this post... goes to another MG page and from there, leads to a French site - and the big clue on that page is the link "Télécharger".

@Shinshu
Then save the headaches and buy a $20 Windows machine from Goodwill,
or go to the Internet cafe and rent a Windows machine by the hour,
or you might have a friend who could borrow it from, etc...
GEE!, I could think of many possibilites to JUST have a .rar ISO image on a CD
anyway..

I just mentioned what I could possibly test and worked for me.

I uploaded this file long time ago, i don´t even know if it still up
ever since I moved out from home, i have not been able to check.

yeh it would be win if someone grabbed this, burned it, ripped it as a toast image and reposted to MegaUpload or the likes. if I am bored one night I'll do that (but don't count on it)

by SHiNShU - 2010, July 12 - 7:34pm

well in case you didnt pay attention, i dont have windows nor do i have a burner. (if i had windows what would i be lookin for mac games for?) this game should easily mount as 1 image like other games will. i have also found that macrar in mac os 9 will not work on the parts and no, i dont know why. i get some dumb error message when i try to open the parts in macrar and thats the only non-os x rar application ive been able to find. stuffit seems to be the only way, and it cant understand the file because its in parts.(thats right! stuffit can extract from single rars but strangely cannot extract parts. stupid stuffit people!) and when i used vpc to have winrar work, the combined parts .nrg file wouldnt work in disk copy. it said it was unreadable and asked me to initialize and of course i canceled out. i give up...i may as well use the dos version of carmageddon in vpc and save myself the headaches.

It´s easy, just use WinRar to join the parts and burn the image file onto a CD,
I tested the full process within the Windows environment,
I advise not to use dropStuff for such matter.

by SHiNShU - 2010, May 11 - 3:43pm

well stuffit cant use the parts and unless theres another os 9 program that can, this game wont work. i bet i cant use dropstuff to unify them. and also, is it weird that my downloads came out as 95.78 x 4 + 2.21 mb aka 385.33 mb rather than 403 mb? because thats what megaupload registers the download sizes as. i dont have a pc so i cant just fire up winrar and since its a mac game im too scared it would wreck the game files even if i did have one. (pc's will delete resource forks, a vital part of mac files)

I think, the file format is the same, it's just the suffix .nrg, which isn't important to Mac OS at all.
See, you can everytime rename the suffix .toast to .cdr and the image still works.
Same must go for the .nrg suffix.

Euryale's picture
by Euryale - 2009, August 17 - 1:40am

I didn't know TOAST could read .nrg NERO images,
in that case, that makes it easier for everyone else to burn a copy,

Thanks for finding that out and sharing the info.

Got to say, I was sceptical that all your effort would be of any use to a Mac user.

But you've worked some magic here, the Nero image mounts and burns perfectly in Toast.
