Emulation
This game works with: SheepShaver, Basilisk II, Mini vMac

Strange name for a strong Othello opponent! Despite its too simple and uncluttered look that does not inspire confidence, this program plays particularly well, contains most of the game's study tools, and takes up very little disk space. Some of its characteristics: 8 levels of depth, backspace many strokes, referee mode, self-play, problem mode, advice, copy of history in the clipboard, setting board and player colors, etc. Freeware.

Top download: 68k version (brev68k.sit) for Macintosh 68K
2nd download: 68k version (brev68k.dsk.zip) repackaged for MinivMac, with System 6.0.8
3rd download: PPC version (brevppc.sit) for Macintosh PPC running any Classic Mac OS up to MacOS9
4th download: PPC carbonized version (brevcarb.sit) for Macintosh PPC running MacOS9 or MacOSX
5th download: Version 4.3.1 (brevimac.dmg.zip) for MacOSX Intel [released in 2011]

Other versions are also available on the author's webpage: Java, Windows (from 3.1 to 7), and MS-DOS.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k PPC PPC (Carbonized)

From System 6 (maybe less) to MacOSX Intel (with Rosetta).
Requirements for each version vary on a case-by-case basis.

Tested successfully on:

◦ Mini vMac for MacOSX w/System 6.0.8 (brev68k.dsk.zip)
[sound does not work in Mini vMac, however]
◦ Basilisk II for Linux w/System 7.5.5 (brev68k.sit)
◦ Basilisk II for MacOSX w/System 7.5.5 (brev68k.sit)
◦ SheepShaver for MacOSX w/MacOS 9.0.4 (brevppc.sit)

I have also uploaded v4.3.1 for MacOSX Intel (brevimac.dmg.zip) since this version is already 8 year's old and does not seem to be in development anymore. Rosetta not required for this one, of course. Bilingual English-Japanese documentation included.
