Bloodlust is a Metroidvania platformer in which you play a cyborg space pirate with a prosthetic machine gun arm. Trapped in an underground complex, he must locate items that enhance his abilities in order to unlock a path to the surface.
The game is designed to be controlled with one hand on the keyboard to move around and the other on the mouse to shoot at enemies.
Programmer Johnston and artist Goatly also created the time-looping PlayStation platformer Timeslip, now available as freeware for Windows.
CompatibilityThe game was successfully tested under Mac OS 7.5.5, but failed to launch on every other system, including 7.5.3, 7.6.1, 8.6, and 9.2.2. Using the outdated DrawSprocketLib 1.1.4 from the 7.5.5 system did not help. If you have any theories about what causes the incompatibility, please post a comment.

Native screen resolution affects it, widescreen aspect ratio kills it. This is a Sept 1999 game so in no way would be for System 7 and not 8 (unless the author was from the Scottish countryside not Glasgow -that's a joke). I have a widescreen and it wouldn't launch for me in OS 9 nor OS 10.2.8 but it does launch with garbled graphics in OS 10.4.11 however if I perform Screen Rotation first then it ceases to launch, even 180 degree rotation stops the launch. When it does launch, it puts forth its own fullscreen mode with 256 colors, and the way the graphics is garbled imply it's grabbing unintended screen dimensions.
