Emulation
Guides on emulating older games

In 2006 a climatic catastrophe triggered a new ice age on earth. A hundred years later, everyone gave up on finding a solution to the problem and two superpowers were formed: Europe and on the other side the Pan Asian Coalition - causing an arms race. Now it's 2142 and the war for the few resources left has already been going on for a few years, with no end in sight. (MobyGames)

Downloads 1 and 2 are the parts of a zipped archive of an image of the game DVD (v. 1.25)

Downloads 3 and 4 are updaters to versions 1.4 and 1.512. Either can be applied directly to v. 1.25

Download 5 contains instructions to enable playing the game offline without the game DVD

The developer took the lazy way of making this into a Mac game. They simply used Cider on top of Windows code rather than make a proper native Mac version of the game.

Compatibility
Architecture: x86 (Intel:Mac)

Intel Core Duo
Mac OS X 10.4.9
512 MB RAM
ATI X1600, NVidia 7300 GT or Higher video card

I found a NoDVD for v. 1.512 of the game and added it to the last download. You can now play all versions above.

I seem to recall reading that an original game disc contains a large SafeDisc file and that the DVD is about 6GB. The disc image here is only about 2GB and has no SafeDisc file so it is obviously not an exact copy. I do not have an original disc but, if I did, it is likely that I could trim it down to just the SafeDisc file so that it would fit on a single layer DVD that, when mounted, would allow v. 1.512 of the game to play.

"...if will work" is the correct quotation from that forum post, so I'm not sure who you are trying to correct...
also, no idea what swiffplayer is. the instructions are:
install bf2142
update to 1.4
find a valid no dvd for windows(i looked and could only find ones with a patched BF2142.exe, not any dll's)
replace the exe in the package with the patched exe

edit: my bad, thought it wasn't working for 1.4 :/

"...it will work"

I tried that but it did not work for me. There is a dll file that needs replacing for the Mac version as well, so maybe that is why it did not work. The No-Disc files that are in the last download here are a replacement BF2142.exe and a replacement SwiffPlayer.dll. But yes, I can see the potential advantage of having an underlying Win code for this

"If you open package contents and put a windows no cd crack in c_drive/program files/ea/battlefield 2142 if will work"
at least there is one positive from lazy wintel devs
