AmoebArena is a strategy computer game, written by Jason Regier and distributed by Casady & Greene for the Macintosh in 1994 and 1995. In the game, the player must defeat a human or computer opponent with amoebas in an arena. AmoebArena is based in the year 2309. In the registered version of the game tournaments and a scenario editor are available.
CompatibilityIt's difficult to describe, but try to imagine what might happen if the denizens of Shufflepuck Café got extremely drunk and tried to play Chinese checkers in a bio lab.

It's cool to see this here. In college I was friends with the other developer Mark Jordan (graphics). I saw his early demos in the computer labs at Santa Clara University. I visited him at the C&G booth at MacWorld for his premiere release, a big accomplishment. I never got to play the real title, but now I can.
When it rains it pours.
I thnk this just about covers it for Casady & Greene games, except for Zone Warrior. We only have the demo for that one on the site. Anybody got the full version?
You're welcome! Man, what are the odds of 2 full-version uploads in such a short span of time, after all these years? I'm just glad we could get it out there; this title is awesome and needs to be played!
Thanks again Bugman and SwedeBear!
Ok; stuff's up. Link in description. As far as I can tell this is the full version containing a folder with demos, at least one sound file, manual and movies. Hope this completes the collection.
I've removed the files altogether, re-uploaded Bugman's archive (as AmoebArenacopy.sit so that it doesn't conflict with previous upload to site.) That should fix it, but as always with this site, the download link won't work for awhile yet. Don't panic; I've mirrored this game on my own site.
Bugman: Looks like you tried to remove the demo file but wound up removing them both by accident. Got to be careful when editing these pages, sometimes the options available can trick you if you look at them too quickly.
ADD: Hmm, looking at the editing page, it's still there, but because the first file is absent the second one doesn't show when viewing the page. Don't know how to fix that...
SwedeBear: Go ahead and upload what you've got, at least to a hosting site if not this one, and we can take a look at it. Might be something worthwhile about it, even if just demos or movies.
They compress quite a bit: the .img I uploaded is about 20 MB expanded. But heck yes, upload what you've got; I'm curious what's taking up the other 40 megs!
[edit] Say, what happened to the full version I uploaded?
Sorry for being a bit thick; but I found a copy of 'Amoeba Aren' just recently when going through my old archives. This .img is 84.6 MB compared with the images here, under 10 MB. Is of any interest to upload it?
Oops! I'd uploaded the file and posted a message at the same time, and only hit the save button at the very bottom.
THE FULL VERSION IS NOW UPLOADED. It's an .img file created by ShrinkWrap 3.0, and stuffed with StuffitLite 3.5.
"Full version uploaded!"
Where? Did you try to upload to the page and not save the changes? (Don't worry, you're not the first to make that mistake.)
Full version uploaded! Please note that I haven't had any success getting Toast to run or open, so this file will need to be made into a disk image.
Post to this page if you need any help making a disc image...
I've got a copy that I'll extract and upload just as soon as I get a new mouse for my old Performa; look for it in a week or so!
It's just the demo, not the full version. Someone's got a CD of it in their collection no doubt, if they would just take a look.
Used to play the demo so many times over and over and over again when I was a kid, what a gem.
Since it is clearly abandonware does anybody have any Serial Number or possibly OS X udpates?
Thanks
