Working on a XMPP gateway for old Macs. What IM services do people use?

So the idea is to use XMPP (Jabber) as a gateway to newer IM protocols and it's working well, but needs more testing. Right now I'm able to use Facebook chat, Skype, ICQ and AIM at the same time in TVJab.

Which IM protocols do you guys use? I want to add everything that people still use, to breath some new life into our old machines Smile

^ None.

The only one I remember was ICQ for Mac, which is also available here:
MacGarden/Apps/ICQ 3.4

I don't think I've used anything but SMS and Messages for chatting in the past couple years. I used AIM in the pre-iPhone era though. What systems are you making this for 7/8/9/X?

Discord. I use this piece of crap daily ; ; and it's the only thing tying me to modern hardware.

I'll look into adding Discord support then. Have added WhatsApp and Gadu-Gadu to the list of supported protocols as well.

Hi Knez, Was curious if there is a status update on this? I no longer use discord due to ToS.

Agreed, Discord should be added for those of us who use it on a regular basis. Also, I would like to know the current status of this project as well.

Sad to see that AOL announced today that AIM is going away Sad A huge disappointment.

I wonder why? Maybe lack of regular users...?

(I didn't hear/see the announcement, lol)

AIM will be discontinued on December 15, 2017. You can read that here.

So I took the server down and planned to move it, but it seems like theres almost no interest in a service like this one. Or am I wrong? Anyone still interested?

you know you have to count me in Smile ... I suppose many people don't understand yet that it may enable them to use facebook chat on their OS9 machines (among other options)

Allmost done with the new IM gateway server. Now with 100% support for old XMPP clients, so you can do all the configuration of the IM protocols in Mac OS 9, or on your 68k Mac on System 7.

Soon to be released to the general public. Need to do some more testing before we open it up.
