Windows Key

I saw a solution to this once via 3rd party software but never saved it because I was on a Macbook. Now, my daughter has taken a liking to a couple of games I have on Sheepshaver, so I need to set it up on my Windows gaming computer so that she can play them while I'm gone. The issue is that the Windows key interrupts Sheepshaver due to opening the Start menu, however that's also the Command key. Does anyone know a way to be able to use the Windows key in Sheepshaver without the Start menu interfering?

Are you sure about the Windows key being the same as the Command key in your setup?

I don't use any keyboard mods in SheepShaver on Windows and my Command key is the keyboard's Alt key.
The Windows key in my SheepShaver, acts as the Macintosh Alt/Option key.

Anyway, as an Option key, the Windows key still presents a problem for me if I'm inattentive. I've learned to, when needing an Option key command, to hold the Windows key down, enact the action, then before lifting my finger from the Windows key, depress another key, such as the Shift key, then lift my finger from the Windows key. This keeps me in SheepShaver and not throw me back into a Windows desktop.

Tbh I wasn't actually sure which key emulated command. I taught my daughter Command-N to start a new game of Frog Xing on my Windows keyboard, but I was using my mac at the time that I taught her that, so I'll have to show her a different key when she's on my gaming computer. Thanks for pointing that out!

It may be overkill, but you could temporarily disable the Windows Key system wide:

Does this still allow you to use the Windows key within the emulator without the host acting on it?

It should. Since it disables the key binding system-wide, it should no longer interrupt anything. For the times you want the Windows key, you can re-enable it.

Alternatively, you can try editing SheepShaver's key codes file, but I gather custom key codes don't always work in SheepShaver.
