Hello. I'm looking for a program to the System Folder "On Que". It is an extension to the menu bar at the clock. I think that can be set for quick launch applications.
More info on image and videos of reference.

I would like to request that someone upload images of the system install CDs for a Macintosh Server G4 "Quicksilver". I have one of these machines, and would very much like to try putting the original Mac OS X Server 10.1 back on it. And before anyone asks if I've been able to find a set of physical CDs anywhere, I've looked but haven't found anything for a price I can afford.

The Developer version of FileMaker Pro (version 5 or 7) would be handy, especially the ability to create OS X and Windoze runtimes.

YW. I think they have a lot of things that are not here, so, I believe we have to transfer theses things very soon. Wink

I wasn't aware that MR actually has their own stuff beside leeching the Garden.

I suppose they are waiting for news here. But they pick up all the things they can, wherever... We are doing nothing more, nothing less here. But the MG has a soul, not MR. It's only my opinion. I think we have most softwares than them, tho'. Smile

Does anyone have any of the pieces of software found on this page, particularly the once popular pdf plugin. Also QuickTime components for ol' QT 7. Apple once had a better list but I don't know where to find it anymore.

If anyone has a copy of the Apple Interactive Music Tools CD-ROM, I'd love to see that uploaded. My dad had a copy, and I clearly remember the interview clip with Keb' Mo' where he said, "Hey, it's Keb' Mo', right here, in your computer." I know there was also an interview with the cranberries.

The only mention I've been able to find of it online is this Billboard article.

It would be nice to see TC WORKS' SparkME. It was one of the first audio apps designed exclusively for OS X. Was available free via a registration page, so I haven't been able to get to any links via archive.org. I think 2.8.1 was the last version.

I've been looking for a full install English copy of ClarisWorks 3.0 for Windows for about 10 years now.

I thought that my search had come to an end, when I stumbled across on a Web Archive page with this CD download: Claris Solutions Alliance - 1995 Release II. A hybrid CD for Macintosh & Windows.

As well as having CWKs 3 for Windows, it has every Claris app, current at time of pressing; as full install software for both Mac and Win.

I had thought I'd stumbled onto the Claris holy grail...

To my bitter disappointment. The person who uploaded this has botched it. The ISO is fubar.

Not one salvageable install on board as far as I can tell... on the Mac or Win partitions Sad

I know that it is not exactly what you need but I have just found by chance some French language versions of different "ClarisWorks for Windows", if you are interested to add them to your collection. Use an antivirus to make sure these files are OK.

[fr] ClarisWorks 1.0 (2.4 MB) Hits : 51 [win] 3.1x
[fr] ClarisWorks 3.0 (7.2 MB) Hits : 70 [win] 3.1x
[fr] ClarisWorks 4.0 (7.6 MB) Hits : 65 [win] 9x
[fr] ClarisWorks 5.0 (23.5 MB) Hits : 140 [win] 9x

Oh yes, there is also that guy from "Low End Mac" who pretended in 2009 to have "a bunch of ClarisWorks 3.0 CDs (Mac and Windows)". Maybe it could help.

I've been specifically searching for the English release, Idéfix.

But thanks for that French link. All of them could also go to their respective CWks for Windows pages that we have here.

The French CWks 3 looks to be in excellent shape so I'll be trying that one one out for size, shortly. Thanks again.

Just curious Mike, what Windows environment do you want to run CW3 and/or what specific feature set or hardware requirement does it meet that earlier and/or older versions miss? Of course, it may just be your personal desire to have the "complete set", which in itself is a perfectly fine goal, too Wink

side note: funny, just noticed the thread actually reads, "What new APPLICATIONS would you like...we'll have to ask Bry for those, lol!" Laughing out loud

Hi cbone. Mainly I want this to complete the full install sets of the English language versions of CWks/Win, here at the MG. Only version 3 to go, but it's the rarest and seemingly most difficult to source of all of the Claris versions...

Yep "What new Applications..." is somewhat misplaced Wink

Hi Mike,

I won't give up to find any lost software. I am rather patient and tenacious in my life. That's why I end up most of the time with good research findings. For my own collection of "big files", I have found and replenish almost everything. There is still 2 or 3 files missing. These files are not so difficult to find in torrents for example, but I prefer avoiding that.

If it's not already made, I can provide you a trial version of CW3 found over the web, if it could be really useful. I presume it needs to be cracked if it's limited, but as I can't test it, I can't tell you what's the real limitation. Of course, it's only for awaiting a complete version.

Hi MacTouch. Thanks for looking man Smile

No need for the demo tho' - good demo copies are here at the MG, for Claris software circa 1994, Mac and Windows. The ClarisWorks 3 for Win demo is included.

Claris's demo-ware is not a possibility either - they're crippled or limited with features missing from the code. Their demo-ware was truly for demonstration purposes, only.

But like you, I am rather patient and I haven't given up on this quest on the full version, yet. Smile

Side note, but I guess I should get back in touch with Dan one of these days... I stopped helping out with LEM around 2003; still surprised it survived that year.

I had some ClarisWorks floppies and CDs back then; I'll have to root around and see if I've still got any of the disk images. I don't think I ever had the mega-install CD.

Hi MIke. I had a look at that disc image. It is a Win-only disc image but it opens for me in Windows 7 and I can see six folders for the six CW3 discs. Maybe you struck gold after all?

EDIT: I burnt to CD with ImgBurn and mounted it on my Mac and lo-and-behold there are two folders, one for Mac and one for Win Smile The disc mounts as CSA Toolbox. Both folders are visible on the Mac but only the Win folder is visible on a Windows system.

EDIT2: It turns out that the original image mounts just fine for me using Toast 5 on Mac OS 9.2.2 and as expected shows both the mounted Mac and Win partitions. It did not mount for me on my Mac running El Capitan or Snow Leopard, but I have found that sometimes happens when trying to mount images of old CDs on more modern Macs. So there seems to be nothing wrong with the disc image. I should have gone straight to my old Mac to try to mount the image first.

Hi mrdav. Thank you for looking at this .iso from the Internet Archive. Tho' perhaps previously I should have gone into more detail, other than simply saying it was fubar.

Yes I too had great hopes for it. The content looks OK when it mounts onto a Classic Mac or OS X or Windows desktop. But the files are not useable. The fun begins when you try to copy any of the files or folders into a hard drive.

On Mac OS 9 when attempting to copy the content from the "normal looking" Mac content inside the folder "CSA Macintosh", I get "error -36" (I/O errors) for much of the content in the mounted CD. On OS X leopard, the Finder simply crashes. On Windows the errors are much the same.

Of the Windows files in the folder "CSA_WIN", the two documents at the root level of the CSA_WIN folder, named "READ_ME.WRI" and "BEGIN.CWK" are intact, can be copied into a HD and are readable. The content in the APPS folder is not useable and cannot be copied into a HD. Additionally, none of the installers can run from the CD itself.

I've calculated that the combined Mac/Win content should be approx. 200MB for the CD and the ISO should be about the same size, not the 40MB it is. The file headers & icons are all there, just much of the content of those files are missing.

The icing on the cake for me is the Windows ClarisWorks 3 document, "BEGIN.CWK". It opens beautifully in ClarisWorks 3 on a Mac and it shows what should be available for Mac and Windows users in this ROM. It includes the full English ClarisWorks 3 for Mac and Win, plus all of the other Eng full installs of Claris products from the time of this CD's release. For me, it's a bitter disappointment for this loss.

I came across another similar hybrid CD uploaded by the same person to the IA, it was also like this CD ISO, unusable. So I think it must be the uploader doing something wrong when ripping hybrid CD's to ISO...

Sad that back in the day, Mac and Windows were such rivals that a cross-platform item like CW3 didn't have much of a chance outside of folks desperate to use Clarisworks to bridge Macs and PCs at work or similar workaround scenarios. Perhaps die-hard Claris fans who couldn't afford a Mac may have also jumped at the chance to snatch it up as well.

Although being that it was a Mac/Windows CD, I'm a little surprised it's been MIA, now that I'm thinking about it out loud.. Did it have a really short run between v2 and v4 perhaps? It does sound like the 93 version I came across a good while ago, but that one was Mac-only.

Did it have a really short run between v2 and v4 perhaps?

That's it in a nutshell and goes towards explaining this version's rarity. We (Mac users) had version 2.0 - 2.1 for a good run after version 1. - There was no 2.x version for Windows, which stayed at version 1 until ClarisWorks 3 arrived, close to the demise of Windows 3.1 and advent of Windows 95. ClarisWorks 4 for Mac/Windows shipped soon after and the Windows version was for Win 95 only.

If it came out around the time Apple was shipping Color Classics, then I did setup Clarisworks for businesses and organizations in Central America at that time. I remember that it was very well received, but I only worked with Macs at the time, early nineties.

Native Instruments Komplete 4 Hybrid win/MAC DVD, the first DVD disc out of the whole set? I think it is probably a hybrid....

Also what would be cool to have OS9 version -> NI Komplete 3?

https://www.emusician.com/gear/native-instruments-komplete-4

Some parts can be found abandoned on the net, though all of them have the MAC part stripped out and only win installers. With Komplete4 comes PPC Guitar Rig and Reaktor among many others, that would be nice to have.

Even ebay lack Komplete 3 or 4 nowadays, seems very rare. These are from 2006-7. Current version is komplete 12.

According to the DiskTracker database, there was a "demo" version of Fontographer 4.7 on MacFormat cover disk #166, but I don't know if that is serialisable to a full version. I can't find that disc in my collection (I'll make a better look through later), so it may be one of the few I'm missing.

I do have almost Tongue every issue of the MacFormat since about issue 3 (the first few issues weren't ever sold here), but a few issues never arrived in shops and some arrived with damaged cover disks / discs which didn't work. At one point they were also selling both a floppy disk and a CD disc version of the magazine, but I was getting the floppy disk version, so don't have those CDs.

This might work, seems to be a copy of 4.7.3 over here.

What is amazing to me is that FontLab's latest build of Fontographer 5.2 (circa 2019) still runs on PowerPC after all this time. You can even buy it new from them.

That might be the best maintained Carbon app to date. Kudos to them. Smile

I think this app might have beaten that in that sense: SuperCard! It seems Fontographer's current latest version won't work on PPC anymore (Mac OS X 10.6.8), while SuperCard's latest one runs all the way back to PPC Tiger (10.4.11)!

Though, of course, both apps are "cursed" by 10.15 Catalina that drops 32-bit support, and thus Carbon apps. Seems like Fontographer will be dealing with that with a new product (FontLab VI), while it's not yet clear how SuperCard will handle the shift (they are apparently trying to rewrite everything in Cocoa, but no annoucements on what OSes will be supported).

The website claims it requires Snow Leopard. However, have you tried looking at the binary for Fontographer 5.2.4?

It has a valid 32 bit PowerPC slice. I can confirm that it works on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on PowerPC. Might even run under Tiger, too.

Wow, you're right. I just gave it a try, both 5.2.4 full and 5.2.3 demo, and they both open even in PPC Tiger. Since I have no registration code, I gave only the demo a proper try. It seems the software is functional, but File > New triggered a crash. Doing the same on PPC 10.5 Leopard worked just fine without any crash, though, which is good.

Maybe the reason they list Snow Leopard+ for compatibility is that they don't test as much against Tiger/Leo PPC, and thus would rather only want to provide support for those on Intel machines, but also compile the app as Universal to keep things accessible on PPC for those that want to give it a shot?

Nonetheless, interesting!

Thanks very much for this link, Duality. It looks good.

When in Tiger, getting info on the app, it gives a choice of launching it in Classic, so it must be a Carbon app. However the user manual, which I DL'd elsewhere, states that it is for 10.3 or later, only.

I'll do some further testing (re: Classic) and will make a page for it here shortly.

Thanks again.

seems to be a copy of 4.7.3 over here.

And I've uploaded and added it to our archives, here.

It's an odd app, in that it resembles a classic Mac app rather than a Mac OS X app. It doesn't have a typical OS X package wrapper, it's a self contained carbon app that has all of the classic resources that you expect to find in a classic Mac app. Throw it onto ResEdit in classic and you'll see what I mean.

I tried running it on OS 9.x and Fontographer's splash screen appeared, then an alert popped up, telling me it required Mac OS X, and the program gracefully quit after I clicked OK. - I'd love to know what resource triggered that response, and then ResEdit it, to see if I could get any further in 9 Wink

Anyway. It's a great little carbon app for PPC OS X and works well in 10.4.x. Thanks for finding it.
