Warcraft: Orcs & Humans

Hello,

I'm interested in the Mac version of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans.
The upload here says that it's "temporarely unavailable".
Is there a prevision for a date when it will be available again?

I read reviews (was it Macworld?) which mentions that the Mac
version had been slightly revamped from the PC DOS Cd-Rom version,
and I wanted to check that out, because other opinions say that it's
exactly the same (apart from the soundtrack). An interview from
someone at Blizzard circa 1996 seems to indicate that indeed there
was some little upgrade. Maybe he simply meant that the Mac version
was up to version 1.21 (which added "magic time" to summoned
units, I think). Anyways, thanks for the help.

EDIT: I received a "warning: duplicate entry" message when posting this.
I did search the forum and didn't see a thread about this. I'll look again
in the meantime. Thanks.

Sorry, I think the default setting for files is private, but I can't figure out how to change that. If somebody knows how to fix it that would be great, in in the mean time I'm looking for somewhere else to put the file.

WOW! (no, not THAT WoW)
Thanks A LOT!!

I was looking here almost every day for this file.
Though I was expecting the 70mb file named Warcraft1.0.8.sit_.bin
as I don't think I have tools to use .toast, but I'll find out.

It seems there are DOS files inside that archive.
This is an hybrid version, I guess?

Cheers!

Performa:
Yeah I think the first Battlechest (Warcraft I + Warcraft II + Warcraft II expansion) was all hybrid. My CD-ROM are DOS only but my friend's were all DOS + Mac.

Use Toast (http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-5-titanium) to mount the image.

Looks like someone beat me to it, but here's a smaller application for mounting images

Found a hidden option that helps a lot in SheepShever (I edited the game entry to let other know):

By default in SheepShaver the game is so slow it's unplayable (even when you play at "Game Speed: Fastest" in the preferences). To play at a almost full pace Ctrl + Option (Windows logo key) when clicking in the Game Speed drop down list. Some hidden options will appears. Select "Lunatic" (the last one) to play at almost full speed.

Is it possible with Mac version of Sheep as well?

Yes these hidden options were coded by Blizzard in Warcraft back then. On normal (true) hardware it would be so fast it would be unplayable. But for some reason SeepShaver plays Warcraft in (very) slow motion. The "Lunatic" setting will set Warcraft at almost full pace in SheepShaver.
