Vehicle Demolition game wanted.

Years ago, I used to play a game where you drove around in a vehicle and shot up other vehicles. It had textured 3d but was very limited in terms of graphics. I got it as a demo off a MacAddicts disc. I can't recall the name with certainty, but Demolition Vehicles come to mind. Please help.

Before I came to your guess for the name, I thought of Interstate 76. I played it on the PC, but there apparently was a Mac version.

No, it looks a whole lot older than Interstate 76. It had flat, 2d trees. You could drive a car, bulldozer, schoolbus, etc. Thank you anyway.

The game you are looking for is Twisted Metal 2

It was 16 bit, and there were very few trees, it was multiplayer, but you could fight against bots in large/small arenas.

There was no Macintosh release?

but you could play as an Ice Cream truck, Bulldozer, Hearse.

a lot of fun. I actually got this running on Intel OSX 10.5+ using cider/wineskin. It is on the portingteam.com website.

Close. I should have mentioned that the game tracks were only offroad arenas. Thank you.

some of TM2 tracks are offroad arenas, or cities Smile

Could have been Evolution 4x4 which had a Mac version. Graphics were pretty decent.

I know exactly the game you are talking about!

It is called Assault Vehicles, made by a guy named William Basaraba. I had the demo of this game and played it a lot back in the day, but it was only sold for about three years (1998-2001, roughly).

I know all this because I have been looking for the game myself for a while, trying to get in touch with Basaraba and also contacting Kagi, who use to handle orders for the game (ten years ago, ha). It has great nostalgic value to me, despite not being a particularly stellar game. Unfortunately, I've hit nothing but dead-ends. I found this site a few days ago and thought there might be hope again of getting the full version.

A screenshot and demo of the game can still be found here:

I've got a 43.9MB demo version of Assault Vehicles on an old MacFormat cover CD. Is it the game ?

hunter13's posts exactly describe Assault Vehicles, so I'm guessing it's indeed the right game. Just need to find somebody who has the retail copy now.

Been visiting this site for years, but just now had to make an account to say,
I have this game! The retail CD. I played the heck out of it, once upon a time.
Unfortunately, I am pretty sure that I've thrown out the original jewel case, which had the serial number. So I don't know what the chances are of actually getting the thing running.
Anyway, if anyone's interested...
