System discs gift

I recently asked our parish priest who gave me my Mac Cube if he still had the system discs for the computer. This weekend he gave me a bag full of the following discs:

  • Mac OS 8.0
  • Mac OS 8.5
  • Mac OS 9.0
  • Mac OS 9.2.1
  • Mac OS X 10.0.3
  • Mac OS X 10.1 Upgrade CD
  • Mac OS X 10.2 Install Disc 1, 2 w/ manuals
  • Mac OS X 10.2.3 Install Disc 1, 2
  • Mac OS X Panther 10.3 Installation and Setup Guide (no discs)
  • Mac OS X Developer Tools 10.1
  • Mac OS X Developer Tools 10.2
  • Power Macintosh G3 Apple Macintosh CD
  • AppleWorks 5
  • AppleWorks 6 w/ manuals

I am assuming all the above are old enough to count as abandonware, and will gradually make ISO files from these discs and upload them to MG (I am still working on the box of Mac software Defender gave me).

Post below if there's one of the discs in the list above list that you'd like me to prioritize.

I may also eventually scan manuals if they aren't too long and if someone expresses interest in seeing them.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!

Nice score, papa!

I think most of these are already here & here. But you should check too. Are they US or Japanese install CD's?

AppleWorks 5 & 6 CDs appear to be here also.

Mac OS X Developer Tools 10.1 & 10.2 may not be here & if not, should be archived.

I haven't cracked open any of the discs yet. They look like a mix of US and Japanese versions.

I won't bother uploading anything that's already on MG unless the new discs are in a language that hasn't been uploaded yet.

The Developer Tools are definitely the most interesting things in the set.

They look like a mix of US and Japanese versions.

If you do have Japanese versions of these, then they would likely not be here, so archives of these would be nice to have.

I've created a page and uploaded the Mac OS X Developer Tools discs here.

Edit: Replaced 'Edit' link with App link - IIGS User Wink
P.S: Thanks for creating the new page.

Thanks for catching the link cruft.

Sadly, it looks like images for my discs were already uploaded to MG and my page will be making a short trip to the bit bucket in the sky.

I made a comparison of the labels of CD-ROMs listed above and disc images already uploaded to MG. Below is the subset of my discs that have appear not to have been previously uploaded to MG:

  1. Mac OS 8.5 -- Serial number 691-2157-A. However, a similar disk has been uploaded here (serial number 691-2143-A).
  2. Mac OS X Version 10.0.3 -- Serial number 1Z691-3103-A. However, a similar disk has been uploaded here (serial number 1Z691-3064-A).
  3. Mac OS X Version 10.1 Upgrade CD -- However, a full install disc for this version is here.
  4. Mac OS X Version 10.2.3 (2 discs) -- However, an update disc to this version is here.
  5. AppleWorks Version 6.2.9 -- However, an update disc to this version is linked from here.

None of the software I inherited turned out to be Japanese-specific versions.

Unless the consensus is that they are too similar to disc images already available on MG, I will rip the above six discs and add them to the indicated existing pages.

Hi Izzytree, have you ever got hold of the OS X 10.2.3 install discs? I tried to boot my G4 from several earlier versions of Jaguar, without success. So, I think 10.2.3 can be the solution. Could you please share your experience. Thnx.
