System 7.6 (floppy version) and Disk Tools?

Was there ever a copy of Disk Tools linked to the floppy version of System 7.6 available on this site? How would you recommend formatting a drive that’s ultimately going to have System 7.6 but doesn’t boot from Mac OS 8’s Disk Tools? I guess the obvious answer may be 7.5.3’s Disk Tools, but I find Drive Setup is preferable to HDSC Setup and is more forgiving of non-Apple drives. I’ve had mixed success with Lido as well (http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/lido-756).

If your HD is SCSI, the patched version of HD SC Setup 7.3.5 works very well for any non-Apple SCSI HD.

But it's also possible to patch Drive Setup using ResEdit, if there are unsupported ATA and SCSI drives that an unpatched Drive Setup won't recognize.

Thanks for the info. Presumably, if I drag a patched version onto a bootable disk (e.g. a modified “Install Me First” disk, I can just run it from there. Cheers.

Hi, If the drive you want to format is SCSI, the top DL on the patched HD SC Setup 7.3.5 page is already installed into a bootable floppy image ready to be written back to floppy media, if your Mac can boot up to Mac OS 7.5.5 using floppy disks.

Otherwise yes, you can use the patched version by replacing the non-system contents inside of a suitable boot floppy disk. Same goes for a patched "Drive Setup".

The 7.6 (not 7.6.1) CD has a folder named Disk Images with a complete set of virtual floppies and disk tools.

The 7.6 hard drive driver had a bug in it so you should update the driver with the 7.6.1 version of Drive Setup.
