suggestions for Mac "HyperTerminal"

I am looking for a simple app that is similar to HyperTerminal on Windows (95,98 etc.) I want to send/receive codes, text strings using the Macs modem/printer ports, have the option to set the ports BAUD rate, 8N1 settings etc.

As a test, I want to connect two Macs with the usual serial cable, set the app running on both computers, as I type on one, it appears (ove rthe serial connecton) on the other. I then will be connecting that serial line to some non-Apple equipment that communicates over RS232/422.

Maybe the app I need is a part of the OS but I just don't know. Suggestions invited. thanks.

You could try “Terminal 2.2” (open source, is even scriptable, ZMODEM support) or “ZTerm” (shareware, not scriptable, also ZMODEM support):

There is also ClarisWorks (vers. 1 - 5), using the communications module of that program. I used to use this "back in the day". Its actually quite a good terminal app.

thanks guys, I've tried them all and they all worked Smile I was especially taken by the ClarisWorks Comms module, I even have a full printed copy of the manual.

Yes it is very good. Adding the ZMODEM Tool to its repetoire, makes it even more useful if using it over dialup.
