Startup for Mac OS 7.5, Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9

I'm ecstatic to introduce Startup for Mac OS 7.5, Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9, the Mac OS startup according to my brain.

Really hope you guys find as much enjoyment in it as I did creating it.

Go check it out: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/startup/

I really like them! Smile
I bet someone is going to point out that 7.6 is Mac OS and everything below is System ;P

In any case, I will definately be using 7, 8 and 9 startup personally, thank you!

Hi fogWraith!

Glad you like them Smile

Hehe Laughing out loud Also waiting for someone to point out that the screen for OS 6 is pretty much useless.

If some of those drop by the forums, I'll be more than happy to share the original photoshop files. Doing 3 different depth versions each with 2 different sizes for all 4 versions of Mac OS (3*2*4=24) feels quite enough for me this time around.

Personally, I've always preferred the abbreviated SSW used for any Mac OS below 7.5.5 Wink

SSW 6.0.8 is booting up, baby!

Disclaimer: The above mock-up is not a possibility. - SSW 6 and earlier can only display 1 bit mono StartupScreen PICT resources (even with color Macs).
- It requires 7.0 and above for color StartupScreen drop-ins. Smile

Ah yes, the abbreviation works fine as well... and that startup screen looks really nice too Wink

I miss that I could do that with the old OS. Change a couple of Pict resources with ResEdit and you get good Pro-looking customizations. I always did that when making my own discs back in the day so I could see who was using them a mile away.

You can change the startup screen in macOS X as well ... at least the early ones could easily, but I haven't checked with the latest ones.

You can change the startup screen on X as well?!! Damn! Didn’t know that was possible. How do you do that?

It depends a little on which specific version of OS X, but for example: Change Startup Screen in Snow Leopard has some examples of ways which work in at least some versions of OS X.
