Running X-Wing from CD in Sheepshaver

Hello all

I haven't really been active with the whole classic gaming thing in a while, but that changed when I found my stash of old mac games. So I installed Sheepshaver well over a year ago and can't remember some of the details of how to make it tick. Right now I'm trying to play X-Wing. I can see the CD on the desktop and copy the install file from it fine and all, but when I try to run the game, it says the CD isn't found. I also just tried running Marathon Infinity from its CD and everything works great. Any idea what the problem is? Thanks

I do not know your game, but this app did work fine for me so far:

It mounts a lot of images that have been copied to a SS virtual disk.

I'm not using or trying to create an image though. I'm trying to run it with the original CD in the drive. I just noticed that the CD has some pretty bad scratches on it, maybe it's just too beat up to run right =/

All right, I see your point. On some hosts, the CD ROM support for Sheepshaver is quite shaky.
I would make a ISO or IMG of your disk and mount that one with the app above inside the emulator.
Playing the game may, or may not work for you. Often enough, games can be fooled to "believe" the original media are inserted.
Scratches on a CD are not so problematic, as the laser focus is well beneath the coating surface.
Really bad are CD-Rs that have become transparent over the years, but as you have the originals this wont apply.
