REQUEST: Performa restore CDs and/or Performa CD-ROM titles CD images

...and I wrote this guide to show the instructions how to restore Performa Software, I need some request.

Do you have some Performa restore CDs (not from the list above except OS 7.6.1 6500 restore, OS 7.5.3 6320CD, and OS 7.5.3 6360/6400 restore discs) and Performa CD-ROM titles (software titles are bundled from Performa in separate CD-ROM, not the restore CDs such as 1995 Grolier's Multimedia Encyclopedia) to be uploaded? If so, please create the CD image stuffed or zipped and upload them to megaupload/mediafire.

To upload, first create the CD image using Toast, make sure the newly CD image is untouched without bad modification dates (volume, Desktop DB, Desktop DF), file structure, etc. and zip/stuff them segmented or not. After that, you can now upload to Megaupload, etc.

I still have pretty much every CD that came with my Performa 5260/120 including the bundled software. You already are waiting on me for the system restore CD. I'll be making an image of it soon because I finally got some "Brasso" which I can use to polish out the scratches on the disc so I can finally make the image. Smile

I'll try Brasso next time. Not sure how it works with the plastic.
Up to now I've used very, very hot soapy water (Fairy Liquid seems to work best), always after I've washed out the baby's bottles of course. Leave it to soak for a few minutes and then rub dry with a clean cotton dish towel.

Hi there,

Will it work if I create the CD image of the Performa 5260/120 system restore CD using "DVD/CD master" using Disk Utility in Mac OS X 10.6 ? Or, should I make an image of this CD using Toast in OS 9 on my iMac G4?

My recommendation is to use Toast in OS 9 system, because it can preserves original modification dates.

Disk Utility will work too if you image the device. But it's quite tricky.

Currently ripping the disc using Toast 5.0.2 on OS 9.2.2 . Hopefully I buffered out the scratches well enough! Will see how it goes... Smile

I can take a high-res photo of the disc itself with my DSLR camera, if that would be considered useful. Afterward I can also list which original bundled CD-ROMs I still have. Smile

OK, Toast image created, and compared with original CD - identical. Smile All modification dates etc. are correct. I'm stuffing the disc image at this time. I'll start the upload and I'll be able to post the link here soon!

You need to lock the CD image first before mount. Check this forum topic for more information.

OK, here it is! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=88M8ESMH

Yep I locked the image, verified that it's identical to the original, same time stamps on CD volume itself and Desktop DB/DF files (as well as other files).

I'll create a page here on the site for it.

BTW sheepmyshaver123 If you didn't realize, I'm "necro2607" from Higher Intellect who you were previously asking for this CD... Wink

EDIT: Added new Apps/OS page at Macintosh System 7.5.3 for Performa 5260/120

My family's first Mac was a Performa 6200CD. Laughing out loud I happened to have CardShop Plus! on hand, but the rest are in storage. I'll start uploading them when I find them.

There is now a CardShop Plus! page on Macintosh Garden.

Enjoy!

I believe we have the restore discs for both the 6200CD and the 6230CD, (as well as a couple others.)

However, I am unsure of their condition at the moment. I'll post when I get a hold of them. Wink (Probably within a week.)

Oh yeah, here's a list of what I know we also have:
3D Atlas CD
1995 Groiler's Multimedia Encyclopedia CD
The Family Doctor CD
Thinkin Things 2 CD
Felix The Cat CD (This disc is sadly scratched up badly, a rebuff might fix it though.)

(Offtopic: btw, I have a few MacAddict CDs that are in your wish list. I'll have them uploaded and will email you the links by sometime tomorrow. They're discs 73, 76, 79, 84.)

Okay, I'll just email you both. Wink I have about 3 of the 4 mentioned MacAddict discs uploaded, I plan on also uploading 2 discs that came from some special edition, they are called "Games" and "Utilities." They have a capital "S" where the disc number usually is. I've used DiskTracker to make individual catalogs of the special discs and will upload these as well.

I realized I did not properly say that the following are in storage and will probably take a week before I can get a hold of them:
6200CD and the 6230CD restore CDs
3D Atlas CD
1995 Groiler's Multimedia Encyclopedia CD
The Family Doctor CD
Thinkin Things 2 CD

As for the Felix the Cat CD, I do have it, but since the local Hollywood Video closed a couple years ago along with its GameCrazy store, I don't know of any place to get the disc rebuffed. So getting that disc archived will take a while.

From the Apple Restoration CD June 1994 (Market Series), I've found these Performa hard disk configurations!:

- Performa 476CD (Clubs) SSW v7.1P6
- Performa 476CD (Office Product Superstores) SSW v7.1P6
- Performa 630CD & 635CD SSW v7.1.2P
- Performa 636CD SSW v7.1.2P (I've waited for the 7.5 one)

The reason in this version of System Update 3.0 inside the CD worked in Basilisk II. Do you have more Apple Restoration CDs (March 1994 and the rest)?

Okay, looks like there was a bit of a misunderstanding.

I was saying that I own Performa CD 6200CD and Performa CD 6230CD. They are at my father's house so it will be a while before I can pick them up to scan and upload them.
