Request: ImageAlign Pro (Photoshop Plugin)

Does anyone have a copy of the old Photoshop plugin called ImageAlign Pro by Grasshopper? This is another one of those old plugins where the OSX version is easy to find but the OS9 compatible version is rare. Also, I am unsure what the last version number was.

Thanks in advance.

Never heard of ImageAlign Pro. Where's the OS X version? According to the developer's web site, the Pro Plugin runs on Mac OS 8.1 or higher, including Mac OS X 10.2 or higher (possibly as high as 10.5) but not beyond that, since it doesn't support Adobe Photoshop CS3.

I can't remember exactly which site I found the OS X version but it was probably on a kdx or wired server. The version I have definitely runs under OS X and I seem to recall trying to install under OS 9 and it either would not install due or if it did install it would not work which led me to believe the installer I have is for OSX only. Maybe I am mistaken and I didn't try it under OS 9. I'll try again and report back.

Here is the update:

The version I have is 1.2 and was on a dmg image which is what makes me believe it is for OS X only. The installer runs fine under OS X and the installed plugin also works. The installer itself appears to be a OS 9 compatible app but when I copy the installer and try running it under OS 9 it does not work. The installer just starts and immediately quits. No warning dialogs or error messages. This is no big deal because the plugin itself is floating loose in a separate folder. So I just tried manually moving it into the photoshop plugins folder. However after doing this, the plugin does not appear in the plugin menu when you run photoshop. This is what makes me believe the plugin I have is OSX only because in my experience with photoshop, plugins that are only compatible with OSX wont appear in the plugin menu when you try them under OS9. However, I did try a couple of other things just to absolutely make sure. First, I ran the installer under OSX and installed to the OS9 photoshop plugins folder. Same result, the plugin does not work under OS9. Then I noticed the plugin itself was an application package. When you view the contents of the package you find that it contains the actual plugin file. I tried moving this plugin out of the package and into the plugins folders. Again, same result, the plugin does not appear in the plugin menu.

In short, this makes me think there must have been separate OS9 and OSX installers.

Nope, there was only one version of the ImageAlign Pro plugin installer and it is advertised as working on Mac OS 8.1 or higher. If it doesn't work for you, it may be because of the version of Photoshop you're using not being supported, or something specific to your Mac model.

If you give me a link to get it from a file-sharing service, I can see if it works for me, and others can also test it on their systems.

Try the kdx server called iHaCkz. That looks like where I might have got it because it is the only server I can find that has it as a dmg file. The only other server that has it is the wired server called Graphic Garage. They have two different files, one is a sitx download and the other is a toast image. I can't try the Graphic Garage downloads because they are not currently allowing guest downloads so I don't know if they are different from what I have.

I would try that iHaCKz server, but I need full information about how to login to it. Don't assume that people know those things — spell it out for them.

kdx server name: © iHaCkZ ® - WaRz.iHaCkZ.OrG

login at KDX://warez.ihackz.org

Guest download is on so no password is required. And of course you need to use the Haxial KDX Client application to be able to access KDX servers.

Therein lies the problem: the Haxial domain no longer exists, and all the download sites I've found refer directly to the link that was on the Haxial site to download it.

If you've got it, I'd upload it to the Garden and then link to it so people can download it.

Here is a download link for Haxial KDX Client v 1.6 which I believe was the last version of KDX that Haxial released:

I got the KDX Client, but using the info you gave, I can't connect to anything. I need the info that goes in each box, exactly as it should appear:

Address

Here is the exact information that appears in my kdx address book:

Type: Server
Name: © iHaCkZ ® - WaRz.iHaCkZ.OrG -
Address: warz.ihackz.org
Login:
Password:

The login and password fields are blank/empty because guest access and downloads are allowed.

You can also access this server by accessing the JoshuaMac KDX tracker which has the following in my address book:

Type: Tracker
Name: joshuamac.homeip.net
Address: joshuamac.homeip.net
Login:
Password:

No login or password is needed to access the tracker.

Finally got the file. Trouble is, I tried the exact info in the connection fields before, and it refused to connect, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again

Oy!

I'll start to experiment with it tomorrow to see if it will work on OS 9 for me.

Well, the 'Sandwich Model' should help:
• run KDX in Sheepshaver w 'slirp' enabled. Set DL folder to SS' UNIX folder. This ought to run. Not fast but run Wink

Thanks swede, that is an elegant solution. Require any special setup under Lion (for SLIRP i mean)?

Nope, or don´t think so. The 'tinkering' should be in Sheepshaver/OS 9. Tried this just now but I´ve got no browser. However the Application 'Net Navigator'(?) does make SS appear in Lion's net monitoring.

You can avoid the KDX download by getting ImageAlign Pro here: http://www.mediafire.com/?np6xm11o1wmo921

If you downloaded it from from the KDX server, you'd get a .dmg file. If you want something else, here's a .sit file: http://www.mediafire.com/?i74xy81tvdb7upc

I downloaded this SIT file, expanded it and looked at it using Resorcerer.

Inside I found that the Plugin is actually a package with an alias for the plugin itself that points to a non-existent file. There is no hope of turning this archive into something useful.

The developer's web site went offline sometime in 2008.

In the same package folder, next to the plug-in alias there is a folder labeled "Contents" and inside this, another folder labeled "MacOS". Inside the "MacOS" folder is the actual Photoshop plug-in, "ImageAlign.8bf". Its file size is 96k.

It looks like a typical Photoshop plug-in and carries the same Creator & File Types that you expect to see with Classic files. Thing is, I only have Photoshop 6 set up on a native classic Mac at the moment and it doesn't want to run in that.

It works in Photoshop 8 (CS1) on OS X but requires a password to activate (which I don't have). So I can't say further if it requires Photoshop 7.0 to run on a classic OS, or is for X only. The documentation that comes with the DL says Mac OS 8.1 and later...
