Request: Early versions of "Glider" by John Calhoun

Looking for any pre 3.1.2 versions of John Calhoun's brilliant "Glider."

Glider is often considered among the very best Macintosh games.

This is my current holy-grail of old Mac files. Bertyboy came through with my last request almost instantly. Does anyone have this one?

UPDATE: We've found versions 3.0 and 2.0 so far. All other early versions still welcome, particularly 1.x releases!

3.0 is on MacGUI. There seem to be some in my old archives, too.

I actually emailed the john calhoun about (I think) the level editor. Though there doesn't seem to be an email currently listed.

I don't think Glider 1.x or 2.x exist anywhere. I think those were just early versions created by Calhoun and never distributed.

Ah! How could I miss that 2.02 version here?! How embarrassing! I'll stop requesting things now.

@watchsmart:

You did not miss it, it got uploaded like immediately after you requested. Keep an eye on the Tracker section Smile

Way back when, john calhoun had a deal where you could mail him a diskette and $10 and he'd send back the source code. I learned how to do flicker-free animation using an offscreen port from his code.

I hope that some day he posts all his old programs or source code to the web. His games are an important part of Mac history.

Getting the usual nosuchkey error on that 2.02 download. Sad If the uploader is reading this and would like to email it to me, I can host it. Or you can stick it on rapidshare or something and I can download and host.

Also: thanks, uploader! You're really nice!

@watchsmart: Do the "edit" trick and D/L it direct, you'll have it in a few seconds.

Excellent!

Here's another download link:

What a wonderful game. Incidentally, all in-game references say that this is actually version 2.0. Only the file name calls it 2.02.

I hope we can find a 1.x release somewhere.

In my next life, I'll have all my files neatly organized and available.... for instance, all my Glider-copies.

Btw: you only mention 3.12, but the very last version of Glider 3 is 3.14.
Since googling was easier than digging into my floppies, here's a good link:

Check the link I posted 2 comments up.
You'll find some of his games in various versions, including the source for several of them (Glypha, Glider, Stella Obscura). Not posted by john calhoun himself, but posted nonetheless.
