Recommend any carbonized games here?

I like a lot of classic games, but I currently only have an Intel-based Mac with no means of properly installing an emulator (i.e. SheepShaver). I was wondering if there were any games here of any genre someone could recommend that are compatible with OS X. Thanks.

the Blizzard games such as StarCraft, Diablo 2, WarCraft 3 ... those run great in OS X, even on my brand new iMac (I was surprised!).... Not sure what else... I didn't bother to try too many older games since I have an iMac G3 600mhz I would use for most classic (90's) games.

Off the top of my head, No, there's just too many games here. You could narrow the search by which types of games you like and which you dislike, ie. Adventure, Simulation, FPS, platform.

You could start by looking for games introduced since 2001
And if it has OSX copatbility listed in it's descriptions.
Or spend under £10 on an iMac G3, allowing you t play all 1400+ games on the site.

I'm also at a loss to understand how you're unable to install something like SheepShaver ? Plenty here who would like to help.

Yeah we can help you with getting SheepShaver set up. Admittedly, I find it crashes a lot and it WAS a bit of a pain to set up. I couldn't find a super-recent binary, so that didn't help - I'm sure crashing I encountered was partially due to bugs probably already fixed. All in all, though, the developer(s) could do a way better job of setting things up for users. Yeah yeah, they already did a huge service just by developing the app as it is, but still! Tongue

Also, carbonized games would need Rosetta installed on Intel Macs.

Well, if I remember correctly, SheepShaver requires a Mac OS 8 or 9 disc or something. I don't remember exactly: Although I know my way around a computer pretty well, I guess I don't understand all that installation/images/discs business as much as I should. I tried getting SheepShaver to work around 3 times, and each time I got stuck on something.

Thanks for some of the recommendations, though.

Redundant robot (for example) Wink

It tooks also a very long time until I got SheepShaver up and running, but finally I managed it.
Just, I don't know how.

The "guides" part of Macintosh Garden can help you get started with the emulator.
