OSX's GREATEST Secret Utility - OS9 (shush - nobody is supposed to know ;0)

I wish I had a dollar for every time OS9 let me move OSX files around that permissions would normally not allow! Like in '07, my brother, who is an avid Mac tinkerer, broke his Finder, and couldn't even drag a replacement copy from the install disk, but good old OS9 let me make a sit of mine to email him. He dropped it into Core Services, repaired permissions and was up like nothing ever happened.

More recently, after getting annoyed with friends and family leaving my 'Guest User' account a total mess, made a sophisticated shell script to reset the account (replace with a new copy, set up as desired), but to back up the initial copy, ran into all sorts of feedback from OSX about "one or more files cannot be copied because they have special permissions" - long story short, booted into OS9 and copied it in about 5 seconds to the desired location - and best of all, all the permissions were still right!

OS9 is still what Mac means to me.

Hehe, nice to use Mac OS 9 to fix OS X, I've done similar things in the past as well.

If only someone would make a module allowing OS9 to access GPT volumes - just think of the permissions you could get around in Mountain Lion!!!!
