OS X 10.1.5 Restore Disc (iMac G4)

Does anyone have one of these, and would it be possible to upload if so?

The 10.1 discs shipped with the 15 inch iMac G4, and the 10.2 discs shipped with the 17 inch iMac G4 won't work. It needs to be the original 17 inch 10.1.5 discs from initial launch.

Thanks in advance. Smile

Check the PN file http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/apple-original-medias-dvdcdfd for the media you are looking for. If is n the file, I can upload it.

Why not the retail 10.2 disks?

The retail 10.1 disks are also there.

Personally I would up the RAM and run 10.4 and 9.2.2.

I don't see any iMacs listed on Everymac.com that shipped with 10.1.5.
10.1.2 yes, but not 10.1.5.

Apparently, the first 17" iMacs shipped with 10.1.5.

But the guy in the context thread isn't trying to run 10.1.5 on an iMac, he's trying to take the GeForce4 MX .kexts and use them to boot Puma on another machine with a GeForce4 MX. The 10.2 .kexts don't boot when spliced into Puma, hence why 10.1.5 is necessary.

I'm the guy trying to run Puma on an original 12in PowerBook with a GF4MX and looking for the 17in iMac's 10.1.5 media to grab the drivers from.

EveryMac incorrectly states that the original 17in iMac shipped with 10.1.2, but it shipped with 10.1.5 (build 5T91) as reported by MacTracker. No other build of 10.1.x includes the GF4MX drivers; not even 10.1.5 Server build 5T114 for the original Xserve, which is the newest Puma build I'm aware of and the one I'm trying to boot on the PowerBook.

On the positive side, 10.1.5 Server does include the kexts for the PowerBook's IDE controller, allowing it to boot from the internal hard drive. These, too, are missing from the generic 10.1.5 client build (5S60b).

Besides, I already have 9.2.2, 10.2.8, 10.3.9, 10.4.11 and 10.5.8 on this PowerBook so it's not a question of which OS to run. I'd like to add Puma simply because that would give me the smallest G4 laptop running it.

Thanks for the warm welcome Smile I think I've made some progress:

I looked at 10.1.5 Server's GeForce2MX.kext/Contents/Info.plist and found it included two device IDs in the IOPCIMatch key - one for a 2MX and 0171 for a GeForce 4 MX 440 Shock Could that mean 10.1.5 Server does include the 4 MX drivers after all and I failed to see them because I'd been looking for a file including "GeForce4" or something else obvious in the name...? I added the 12in PowerBooks's device ID (0179) to the kext, repaired permissions, deleted the cache and rebooted.

The last few messages output on the PowerBook's screen look promising but nothing happens afterwards, an LCD connected via VGA right from the beginning just displays a plain grey screen in 640x480.

Resetting IOCatalogue.
NVidia11:: start GART Size: 128MB
NVidia11:: using AGP
Starting ATS Server
Starting Window Server
Starting virtual memory

In my previous attempts, I never even got the last three messages.

Does that mean Aqua has actually started but on an invisible "phantom" screen? I presume this could have something to do with the PB's "port layout" not matching what the driver expects. But I have no idea about how to tackle that Sad

There is a 10.1.5 Combo updater on the OS X for PPC page which may (or may not) be of any use here.

Thanks, but that's no good unfortunately. Both 10.1.5 for the 17in iMac and 10.1.5 Server for the Xserve are newer than that and include additional kexts.

There's hope Smile The discs mentioned are the iMac 10.1.5 ones.
