New SheepShaver for Ubuntu Setup Guide

Here's a quick and dirty guide to setting up SheepShaver on Ubuntu that I've written:

http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/ubuntu

it includes a couple of SheepShaver packages that can easily be installed in Ubuntu, as well as a brand new build of the emulator which is not recommended, but which could be improved if some people test it out.

There are a few linux-specific tips for the emulator and a basic walk-through for the GUI. It should be enough to get new users up and running.

Many thanks for this heads up. OK it may be early days and as you say "is a work-in-progress" but its a good start I look forward to its progress.

I also appreciate seeing your emulator updates. Thanks again.

Actually, MCP, Ubuntu is what it is advertised as... the easy-as-pie Linux. And if you install the emulator from a package (provided there) you don't have to compile anything!

Setup and requirements of the emulator are almost identical to the OS X version, too. It's not so tough!

The guide has been fleshed out a bit since I first posted the link. It has a tad more detail now.

The guide is now in a state that is acceptable to me. Lots of setup notes and downloads. Do check it out, Linux users...

And now, also, there is a Basilisk II for Linux setup guide:

Basilisk II is a touch easier to get going in Linux than SheepShaver is.
