New SheepShaver: October 18

A new build of SheepShaver for OS X is now available:

http://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5911

The changes have not all been documented in the user manual, but they will be soon enough. The link above describes what is new The new build has lots of new features and fixes (more than any build in sometime). One neat feature is that the new version supports self contained SheepShaver virtual machine bundles, which are described above.

I've linked here to a few test builds along the way, so some of these features might be old news.

Thanks, I checked the new version, but

when the msg comes, "The application 'SheepShaver' has been unexpectly quit", it really quit itself, other than previous versions which still run after that msg.

On a PowerPC G4, Mac OS X 10.4.11

Hmm. You should report that in the thread I linked to. The people developing the new builds read/post there.

Sad

I don't like the idea of upgrading as a solution to anything. Especially not here on a sort of retrocomputing forum!!

Upgrading my current Mac, a PowerBook G4 Late 05 isn't an option, no longer at this point, because it will be replaced next year by a MBP, most likely.

Other Macs in my portfolio are PowerBook 190cs and Pismo for real retrocomputing. Smile

... was a second-hand buy for me. Now with real Mac OS 9.2, w/o the help of OS9Forever onto the Umax clone I owned at that time.

Other Mac OS versions I've installed onto it are: Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3 and/or 10.4 (10.4 with the help of current Mac's Install DVD, connected with Firewire.

Sure, the PowerBook G3 Pismo is a nice Mac, but a bit too slow for later 'The Sims 1' additions... Wink

IIGS_user:

Here's a build of October 25 that should fix the problems you and others are experiencing on PPC macs:
