Need Help Opening A Game In Mini vMac!

Hello everyone.
I just got Mini vMac working and I now know how to make disks/disk images. I downloaded Uninvited and it was an SIT file and I put the files on a disk in HFVExplorer. Then when I go to vMac and open the disk it will not know the file and won't open it. I later realized I was suppsoed to use Stuffit Expander 5 for Windows to expand it but I put the expanded files in the same disk and it still can't open any of the files. Please help, I am desperate to get this game working. I DO have the actual game with it's disks but as old as my Mac computers are, they won't run the game since it's monochrome and I think a different file system. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Hi Nick. First; never open a Mac archive in Windows. It's a almost certain death for the files in the archive.

What you're supposed to use is 'StuffIt Expander 5' for Mac and do all archive expanding/opening in the Mac OS. This time, either drag and drop the '.sit'-file onto the Expander application. Or, open Expander and from menu 'Archive' choose 'Expand…' and then choose the '.sit'-file.

HTH! Smile

Alright, thanks for the tips but where can I get Stuffit Expander 5 for Mac? Can I run it on OS 7.5.3? I heard you need Basilisk II to run it but I couldn't get the emulator to run since I can't find a certain ROM image. vMac however I got working.

You're only going to get Stuffit 4 working in Mini vMac. Mini vMac doesn't emulate a machine capable of running 5.

So you might have to get Basilisk II up and running to expand that file.

For what it's worth, here's a Stuffit 5.5 download:

You might try looking around E-Maculation to find some info pertaining to setting up Basilisk II. It's not very hard once you know where to look. I've set up SheepShaver through the website countless times, and it really does help. Try it out.

Hey guys, thanks for the help but there's still one last problem. WHenever I try to start Basilisk II it says "Cannot open ROM file". If anyone can find me a ROM that works that would be nice. I do have the original CDs for OS 7 and OS 8.5 if that helps but I wouldn't know the first thing about ripping it's ROM.
Thanks

Open your favorited search engine, type in 'redundant robot', there is a nice SheepShaver tutorial, even a number of ROMs of your interest (Quadra). Wink

Can OS 7 run Deja Vu, Uninvited, Deja Vu II and Shadowgate?

Yes.

But if they're not shipped as Disk Copy .img files, you must find a way to move the files into the emulator...
