Name this game

Hey guys and gals.

I used to play a game on Classic OS, probably 8.1.
It was a RTS, where you played as Aliens, top down. A bit like Command & Conquer in game style.
I think you could play like humans as well.
I remember the time of day changed during game time, and Aliens used to see better during the night, and Humans better during the day or something.
I remember what it looked like vaguely.
I think you had to build building, and as Aliens you could call for reinforcements, and the special move of one of your officers was to abduct somebody from the opposite team.

I vaguely remember it had maybe an X in the name? Maybe the word "ufo"?
I also have a feeling I might be putting you on a wild goose-chase with these names, so it might be best to ignore them

I would really like to at least know the name of the game, and if it's not too much, a download link as well.

Many many thanks in advance

Bares a passing resemblance to X-COM... but that didn't come out on the Mac, I think!

Are you sure you played as the aliens and not the humans? Because as watchsmart said, what you describes sounds like X-COM. Here's the screenshots page at MobyGames:

Humans better in the day, Orcs better at night is Warcraft. But you should remember that.

It wasn't Warcraft. They were definitely Aliens not Orcs, and it wasn't X-Com either.
You had vehicles, troops, flying ships.
I remember the most powerful ship I think was the Alien spacecraft, which a huge Golden coloured thing.
I hope that helps.

I was sure I had it, or rather "acquired it" many years ago, but I can't find it.

I'll add it to the wanted games list. Usually, I upload the demo until the full version comes along, but I can't find the Mac version. I did find a review of it on ATPM:

http://www.atpm.com/4.07/page12.shtml

Here's an excerpt, "The humans are very technologically-minded, with great hulking machines and MechWarrior[TM]-like walkers, while the Taar are biological experts creating and using a collection of vile and fearsome creatures instead." I already like this game.

Same here. I had it many years ago, and the world was good.
I then moved and shed loads of other things happened, and I'm pretty sure I've lost it.
I suppose I can check my PowerMac 7100...
