I might be able to help resort files once Summer officially starts in June. Currently busy with college.

Just a note about the new Dos / Windows section, please do not upload for it yet (unless your willing to help sort the current ul folder)

This sounds like a good resource, although I'm a little lost on how it works, anyway.. I have original copies of:
1. Mac System S/w The May 1991 Golden Master release - which I'm told was the pre-release os OS7 only to developers. Very colourfull cover.
2. Developer Group - Lord of the Files, Vol VII, (blue cover) - 1991

I think the Mac OS 7 GM release is already on the server, but not the Dev CD Vol. VII.

To connect you just need to use either a FTP client or a wired client. There are links in the first post. Then enter the server details and connect.

To rip the Dev CD take a look at this guide.

Edit: Replaced 'xxx 7' with 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User

Yes as proto said i have the OS 7 GM but not dev cd VII, connect either using a ftp client of wired client, upload the cd to the uploads folder, then you can either pm me (if you use wired) on drop a text file with what user / pass you want into the accounts dropbox.

I've tried a number of ftp things on both Mac and Win - to no avail. The upload folder (and accounts dropbox) seem set not to allow write access. All my Win ftp does is not get past the root diry listings. My Fetch 3 gets a little further but the server keeps closing the connection. I thought this was supposed to be easy!?

ok, some ftp programs don't like folder names starting with a space, have you tried filezilla?, i recommend you try using wired

@wazeem the reason you don't see the files is because those folders are dropbox's, can you get me a screenshot of the problem

Wouldn't it make sense to torrentify this great repository? Thanks for the uploads!

torrentify? you mean like make torrents of the files?

Ok to all those having problems with ftp saying "No such file or directory" it should be sorted, i am now using characters rather than blank spaces to change the order folders appear

that's better, I can now steer around the folders, but still unable to upload anything because the "uploads" folder doesn't seem to allow me to write to it. Same with "accounts dropbox" - I can see it but not upload anything.
I have tried to download too, but we we're restricted to 10kb/s it takes 7 hours to get a cd image Sad

sorted, forgot to give the ftp user write access to the upload folder

I uploaded the Apple Dev. CD Vol. VII to max's site (incl. a pik of the CD cover), that might now complete that collection.
PS. Sheepie, your archive has helped me get a number of old Mac running again. Beer

@sheep, no, it's just connection problems, not sure at what end

@wazeem what exactly did you rip the cd with?, the image seems to have multiple partitions, the only thing that opens it is toast, is it possible to re rip it as bin / cue, but a big thanks for uling it in the first place Smile

And to everyone, im looking for people to start uploading old console games, and dos software (but keep the mac stuff comeing), and if any on is willing to help sort the ul folder or donate a little towards getting a new hdd i would be eternally grateful (and let you leech as much as you like Smile )

I just had a check, I was following protocol7's guide, anyway. I created an image using Toast 4.1.3 then put that file into Aladdin DropStuff 5.5 (to compress it) - the reverse process should give you a Mac cd. All done on a PPC OS7.3 Mac. - is this not correct or working for you?

I have more, maybe. I have a number of Develop publications from 1990 is it of any interest to have scans of the front covers?? I gather the contents are on the Develop CDroms.

Ok, it's just a weird thing with that cd, it ls a perfectly good rip as for the other ones that would be grate

and did you ever ul a file with the account info you want? i need to give you a account

@max: I just uploaded the same Vol VII cdrom but as a toast file its about 560MB (took 3hrs to upload), my DropStuff didn't seem to like the file so couldn't compress. I'm just probably doing something wrong.

Thanks wazeem, that image mounts properly Smile and please upload a file with what user / pass you want

This server is temporary offline. When I want to download more Developer discs? I cannot connect to Mitrokhin's Pandora Wired Server.

A note to all users:
Please make sure your client is set to open no more than 2 connections, I have been seeing people with 20+ connections and as you may know i am on a home connection and simply can't handle that meany, any single ip with that meany connections will be kicked, if it reopens those connections it will then be banned (usually lifted within 24hours of the client stopping trying to reconnect)

I am about to move my ftp server from running on pure-FTPd to Rumpus, i cannot seem to import the old password file, so can anyone with a account please either email me your user / pass or upload another text file to the accounts dropbox using the mg account

sheepmyshaver123 Got it Smile

everything should be working fine, which protocol where you trying to connect to?

I've running in FTP protocol.

For some reason, the domain (www.max1zzz.co.uk) preventing me from accessing the site and the server, is some problems to the server such as crashes or something else?

Hey Max - I have tried to download a file but seem limited to about 16kps which makes it a 7 hour session! I thought once an "account" was set up I could download faster. Have I got something wrong, or maybe is the download speed limited in other ways?

BTW: there is the CDrom artwork on ebay right now for most of the Develop CDroms, very pretty, do we need to stash them in our archive too?

it's just a unfortunate limitation of my broadband

and is this the disk or cover artwork? i have the cover artwork for most disks, but not the disk artwork

Expect downtime this weekend (from aprox 5:00PM BST (GMT +1) tomorrow) and for the following week and weekend, we have server moves (To my new HP ProLiant G3 DL360 servers), Ethernet cables to lay, power cables to lay, ~500GB of data to move (both public and private), and more disks to connect than my server can take ( i have a plan for this)

Server is offline until further notice, main disk is failing (the one with all the mac abandonware) most is backed up, but i don't have a big enough drive to move it onto

New 1TB hdd on order, once i have that backups and downloads will be moved onto that, then that hdd (500GB) will be the new server data drive, expect the server back by next friday

Good to hear, your server will be back in business. Did you have a special reason for 1TB? I thought 2 TB drives had the lowest price per GB right now.

cost, as i am a kid a 1tb drive is still pretty expensive for me, 2tb was a bit too much

New HDD has arrived, eta till files back: ~10 - 24 hours

first 5 hours: copy old backup drive to new 1TB drive
next hour: delete old stuff from old backup drive
rest of time: copy missing files, reinstall both back into the server

the 500gb drive becomes the server data drive, the 1TB drive becomes the backup and downloads drive

Another drive failed, i do not trust the hackintosh anymore, sever is offline untill i can replace the server (or get a external sata dive tower or some ppc friendly sata cards) which i really don't have the money for.

We are back, On real mac hardware this time, my trusty old 2001 G4 quicksilver should serve us well

When i have the money im gonna invest in a couple of sonnet tempo sata cards (or maybe if you very very lucky ill try to save the money for a pair of 4 bay drobos, but that's over £600 of tech)
