I have a Linksys card that I'm using in a PBG3-series and using the driver from ioxperts.com

I've done the same thing, too. It didn't worked.

I used to have connection problems with an airport router, and I fixed it by setting it to channel 11. Perhaps try changing wireless channels of either the router or adapter to something like 11 or 6.

Also, to select wireless networks in OS 9, Apple Menu > Airport > Choose Network.

Assuming that you have an original AirPort card, you'll only be able to operate on 40-bit/64-bit WEP encryption by default in OS9.
I think if you upgrade to the latest version of AirPort OS9 can support (AirPort v2.0.4), you get access to 128-bit WEP.
For WPA and WPA2 you need OSX 10.3 or later and an upgrade to AirPort software.

Edit:
I edited above after trying a google search to find an Apple Technical Note or Discussion thread that detailed it correctly. Ironically the best find was a discussion post from 7 years ago, written by me ! Smile

Confirm the wireless encryption method set on the AirPort Express.

Confirm the AirPort software version installed in OS9 ((Apple System Profiler)

If you get to Mac OS X 10.4.6, make sure you get the AirPort updates by Ethernet, there is still limited support by default
