IP banned?

I just had my IP banned. I'm assuming because I was trying to use HTTrack to redownload my collection after my hard drive died? Is that program not allowed or did my messing with the settings cause suspicious behavior? Any guidance is appreciated.

Your IP is not banned, if the IP you are using with HTTrack is using the same IP as what you posted this query with.

I'm not sure about using web-site downloaders like HTTrack tho' - you may need to tweak it to be not too invasive. Someone with more knowledge may chip-in.

I do know that dynamic changes are being made to the software running this site at the moment, so interruptions may be the cause.

Also read the admin announcement posted earlier today, it may give some added insight to your situation (you could also reply to it in that thread if you think its relevant).

No, this isn't the same IP address. I had to change my mac address to get a new IP from my ISP to access this site again. And now this is an even newer ip address because I wanted to see what would happen if I tried going back to my old settings again, but it gave me the old blocked IP again.

What is the banned IP then? The 1st (up to 6) numbers will be enough for me to check e.g 123.123

If I wrote it down correctly, then I think it had the same first 5 numbers as my IP now has, and then .5 as the 6th number. It was probably banned around 3 hours ago.

It was banned for some exception. It should be clear now.

It (HTTrack) was triggering multiple alarms (access denied alerts) as it was trying to enter Edit mode page links and as it's not a logged-in human (just an anonymous crawler) it was flagging multiple warnings so the IP got banned.

If you can tweak its settings somewhat it may not become a problem.

Ok thanks.
