I need 8.1 game recommendations! :)

hello kind people! i'm looking for game recommendations for games from 85-99 or so that can play on basilisk ii 68k architecture. i'm really into RPGs, strategy games, but I'm also into other games with RPG elements and text adventure type stuff, too! Basically looking for anything that is interesting and u would recommend I play. So far i've got about 30 games installed so i'm sure we'll hear some recommendations that i already have, but i'm looking forward to checking out other stuff!

let's hear it. Smile

Not RPG, but Spectre is pretty cool. It's 68k, but I hope it's not too heavy for your setup.

And don't forget Escape Velocity. In some ways it is kind of RPG-esque, but that may be pushing it. Nonetheless, it's a Mac-exclusive classic that won't work even in Classic mode under Mac OS X.

Thanks, Jatoba! Escape Velocity certainly looks like something I'd be interested, with its openness, RPG elements and complexity. Smile

anything by spiderweb will give you a lot of RPG value, long series and text heavy (some still going today and with modern remasters)

Mantra is, in my opinion, also a classic. Understandably not as celebrated as the likes of Escape Velocity, Diablo or anything like that, but it's a fun and humble RPG that grows on the player as you play. Also is (or used to be?) a Mac exclusive.

Mantra II is a less well-received game, and I did not properly sit down and play it yet, but it's in the plans. Might be worth checking out.

And why not throw in some JRPG in the mix, too? Next Power seems to potentially be an Ys-clone, so that alone might make it worth checking it out (JP text only I guess). Also in my own "to play" list.

Then we have roguelikes like Slash'EM. There's a number of these out there. Good especially with the absence of Diablo.

Captain Blood seems interesting, mentioned over there to have RPG elements.

Forgotten Realms: Unlimited Adventures has a big, highly-devoted fan-following to this very day. Never played it myself, but it seems to be really liked.

I would also have recommended Gauntlet, but although it's a 68k Mac game, it does not work under Basilisk. Works on mini vMac, though.

And I mentioned this one in the other thread already, but this one is worth bringing up twice: Battlin' Babe. Mac exclusive, too.

Guess that's plenty to get ya around for the time being.

WOW! Thanks, Jatoba! U gave me many to look through and most of these I saw but will definitely grab now with your recommendations.
