help with .sit archives containing files other than .dsk/.img (windows to mac/mini vmac) [SOLVED]

hi guys,
i'm having trouble with non-disk image .sit files. i.e. the ones that contain just the game files.

example: http://macintoshgarden.org/games/ground-zero

.. the resulting files aren't executable once i've either transmac'd them to a floppy for the SE or hfvExplorer'd them into a .dsk image for mini vmac.

== edit:

just figured it out, use HfvExplorer but when copying a file to your image, don't let the program automatically decide, specify macbinary 2 instead... if someone's making a windows guide, i think this is really important.

I'm having a really hard time with this too. I'm getting an error in HFVExplorer that says "Invalid Mac Binary File Header" when I try to force it to Mac Binary 2. Any ideas on this? I've tried it with multiple .sit files, all the same results.

And just for further info, I'm on a PC (Vista) downloading files from Mac Garden, and using HFV Explorer 1.3.1

Basically I just want to be able to move files downloaded onto my PC and onto a Mac disk image and have them execute. Any help would be greatly appreciated! All .img and .dsk images mount fine.

Thanks...

Thanks...

Yes, do not as the previous poster suggested force everything to Macbinary this will invariably fail on files that are not Mac binary format to begin with.

Rather, tell HFVExplorer to copy your archives as "Raw copy, data fork", setting no extra options to this.

Even though your files will appear generic in the Mac Finder, dragging a .sit, .hqx, or .bin etc, onto a closed Stuffit Expander icon will launch it and it will extract the contents OK. And if you copy over files in .zip format, use MacZip for best results on those in a Classic Mac OS.
