I have Homer 2.1 (shareware) from an old MacFormat cover disk in 1995 - the app and readme date from 1993. All versions of Homer 2.x are also called Homer Pro.

Can anyone find a later version ?

Revisiting my list, I realized that I put the wrong name for one game. So here's the fixed list:

(OS6)Pippen - A Hypercard Stack that let you decorate an apple, Mr. Potatohead style
(OS6/7)Turbo Math Facts - A education math game.
(OS6)Hot Dog Stand - A sequel to Lemonade Stand, I think.
(OS6)Number Maze - An educational maze-math game

I've been trying to find the "Temple of Apshai" for the Mac 128K/512K/Plus...
It's usually found for Apple II and Commodore BUT I saw a copy for Mac selling on eBay.
Wizardry was one of my fondest memories when I grew up and I'm wondering if
Temple/Apshai is worth playing!!! It's bound to be small so I hope to see it here!

For these who don't believe me... it's on eBay here...

I just remembered a game we used to play back in the days as kids. I think it ran on OS 7.5. It was shareware and called "Ace Detective" and could best be described as a crime-solving simulation. You would examine suspects for possible motives and opportunities and then place the evidence into the computer notepad. It was quite funny. Does anyone have it and would kindly upload it? I could only find the demo online. Thanks in advance Smile

I've just found an index of the old Macformat CDs, a search reveals that there is something called Number Maze present on Macformat's media on issues 20 and 23. I've heard the mag frequently mentioned so there are high possibilities that someone may have one of those two

I have both. The entries you refer to were only icons, part of icon sets submitted by readers.

Last time I checked, I didn't see MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat anywhere on here.

I'd upload it myself (the QuickDraw 3D RAVE-enabled version, to boot!), but Toast 5 seems to have ripped the CD in an odd way, leaving out the redbook audio soundtrack.

Anyone interested?

Toast does that. See Age of Empires, and Civilization II, and Civilization CTP, and others.
from memory Toast can save the Audio part as a .sd2f (or something close to that). We can then re-create the CD from there.

Sounds like a great addition, if you're convinced it's abandonware.

I figured out how to save the soundtrack in that .Sd2f format. Turns out that I have to add all the audio tracks in Toast manually, then File -> Save As Disc Image. Don't know what to do from there, though-the Mac file system throws me for a loop given how used to I am to the Wintel side of things.

I'm currently stuffing it up, but the resulting archive will still probably be pretty big, especially with the soundtrack.

As for the abandonware question, I certainly don't see it being sold new in retail stores or from reputable e-tailers. Perhaps when I see it on Good Old Games...oh, wait, that's for DOS/Windows games, not Mac games.

Other games I can try to contribute:

-Star Control 3 (Someone asked for this earlier. I doubt it'll be worthy of being the sequel to the greatest game of all time, but if someone still wants it, I'll do my best.)
-The Last Express (Interplay version, dual-format Win9x/Mac, three CDs. The dual-format part could cause problems...)
-Master of Orion II (If Good Old Games gets this one, I may have to reconsider, even if this is a Mac version.)
-SimCity Classic/SimEarth/SimFarm (They're all on the same disc. I'd bring up SimCity 2000 SE as well, but someone already contributed that, I'm pretty sure. I certainly won't be surprised if these three were contributed as well.)
-whatever else I can find at the neighbors' house (They've got a whole library of old Mac software and games sitting unused, as well as a IIcx and a Power Mac 6500 equally unused! I've been itching to do something about that...)

-The Last Express (Interplay version, dual-format Win9x/Mac, three CDs. The dual-format part could cause problems...)

No, the dual-format (Hybrid CD-ROM for PC/Mac) doesn't cause any problems as such.
Some games available here are PC/Mac releases, which are very welcome.
But I'm not sure about an additional Audio part on the CD when using hybrid CD-ROMs.

As for the Maxis collection (Sim/City Classic/Earth/Farm), all of them are available here, each of its own. I'm not sure if it is useful to add a new entry with all the contents at once.
Probably yes, but I would let other decide about this.

I also own The Last Express, both english and german versions, which include DOS/Win95/PowerMac versions, Broderbund edition 1997. Strange, DOSBox doesn't see the DOS version included.

There was a request on my site for the old 80s games "Mac Golf" and "Mac Football."

Anyone got these?

The fellow wrote:

"Two other cool titles from that era seemed to have vanished: Mac Golf and Mac Football. Mac Golf was one of those "click three times to hit the ball" type of golf games; Mac Football was super-simple and lots of fun. You just picked your team and selected plays - the result of the play would be would be displayed by a football positioned on a field. Just a coach mode game, but a really good one."

F1 Championship Season 2000 - I have it, but it's most definitely not abandonware.

Feral still sell it - http://www.feralinteractive.com/?section=buy&game=f1-2000

Feral are particularly excellent at supporting and selling all their old Mac software. If you want it, buy it. Althogh £20 is a bit steep, I have seen it come up on eBay a few times in the last 6 months.

Thanks for the info, bertyboy. I checked all the sources here in Germany and they don't sell it anymore. But you're right, if Feral still offers it, we shouldn't put it up here.

Very odd though - who is going to spend 20 pounds for a ten year old F1 Racing Simulation where you race with drivers like Jean Alesi, Johnny Herbert, Heinz-Harald Frentzen & others? I'll keep my eyes open for it on ebay & else Smile

Sorry for the bad news, I like nothing more than putting up a request, but I do like to stick to our ideals. If I see it again on eBay UK, I'll post to let you know. Even if the seller won't ship to Germany, I will.

I would very much like to see Hoyle's Card Games 2001 uploaded. I have a copy of Hoyles Card Games 2003 on CD (PC + Mac), but I believe the gameplay is much better in HCG 2001.

I wonder if someone has a gem from the OS 8 era at home that goes by the name of "King of Dragon Pass"?

Would love to see that here and really appreciate an upload. It's an unconventional game, sort of a mix between game and novel - very interesting approach... Smile

I've got an 82MB demo of the game from October 1999. Better than nothing. Can anyone beat that ?

King of Dragon Pass came up on eBay for cheap recently, and somebody got a steal. I was too tied up in other projects to be able to take a chance on it. Plus my usual severe lack of funding.

Still awaiting a response for Hoyle's Card Games before 2003 (I have original CD for 2003, but the gameplay and AI are pathetic compared to 2001). I am just hoping that Sierra released a Mac version in 2001 - I believe that they may have. This will be a rare find, even the PC version was found by luck. The version for the PC I have, is obviously a copied RIP (only tiny).

The CD ROM will probably be a Mac/PC disc, like all the others?!

Apologies, I saw your eearlier post and must have presumed that you were looking for only HCG2001.

I have HCG v3, from 1999. It's a Toast image, but I don't think it's an exact copy of the original media. At 39MB (uncompressed) I think it is complete. Good for an upload ?

I have a copy of King of Dragon Pass for Mac/PC, I'll try to find some way of getting it available. I'm working on making a Classic Mac OS software Hotline server (may as well go totally nostalgic) as well.

Quick request as well - anyone have the installer for Connectix Copy Agent? I have the Control Panel and read me/FAQ, but I think I need the whole installer to get it to work. Copy Agent gets you the Smart Copy/Merging functionality of Speed Doubler but works under 9.2.2

Connectix Copy Agent

Do you have any pointers as to what this might have been released as ? or included with ?

Or what it actually does ? Is it an extended Clipboard ? or something to get to the contents of the Mac Clipboard in Virtual PC ? Just guessing at what it might be used for.

Connectix Copy Agent is pretty neat, here's a review from MacWorld - http://www.macworld.com/reviews/product/406517/review/copyagent_10.html

What I want it for is I'm trying to merge all these Mac games and applications from a variety of sources, and when you drag a dozen folders to another location, you get the "Some folders already exist, replace?" dialog. Rather than just replacing them, Speed Doubler (and apparently later Copy Agent) would let you have greater control. It also was a solution for backups and stuff.

So I made KoDP Mac/PC into a .toast file, threw in a PDF manual and a FAQ, comes out to ~240MB stuffed with .sit (not .sitx)

Since it's <400MB should I upload it here, or some other site?

Thanks, I have a lot of programs and games I can't wait to submit once I get everything sorted!

Okay I uploaded KoDP at http://macintoshgarden.org/games/king-of-dragon-pass . I linked to an update as well. I noticed there was an option to upload the manual but I already had included it in the archive. The game requires 7.5 or above but I created a Toast image to maintain the Mac/PC parts. Hope I made the page/upload/etc solid enough.

Can't wait to add more!

Thanks heaps bertyboy. I am almost certain now that they released 2001 for the Mac as well as PC. It is almost certainly on a hybrid disc, I will be playing it on a 4:3 CRT that does 640x480, so no probs there. Even stretched to 1440x900, it is still very playable.

If you could use your considerable skills bertyboy, you may be able to source HCG2K1!!!

Cheers!

Yes.

I presume that means that only a Mac portion is mounted when the CD is inserted. When you start Toast, how does it describe the disc ? Hoping it'll say HFS / ISO.

I've been caught out by this twice now, looks Mac only, but Toast picks up the ISO partition, even though it's not mounted.

I've seen a number of the Wizardy Gold CD's in online auctions, and they seem to have been published separately in Mac or PC versions, though the documentation and packaging looks probably the same.

I know what you mean bertyboy, depending on which hardware and system I'm using, sometimes the PC portion doesn't show up, and in one case the Mac portion didn't show up! I always try untested .iso files with both Toast and Virtual CD/DVD Mounting Utility. Where one occasionally fails, the other makes up for it.

ADD: For accessing PC portions of CD images, it doesn't hurt to have Joliet Volume Access installed in the classic Mac OS.

Nothing famous, except maybe Dracula Unleashed. I usually don't like to let on what I got, until I get it. Discs can be damaged or mis-sold (ie. PC games), or missing. All happened before, some even took 3 weeks to arrive.

I wish there were more of us who scoured eBay to find stuff.
