I never had any issues playing Myth II with a read only Disk Copy image of the original disc. It may also have worked with a mounted locked Toast image. Except when my PBG3 only had a 4GB HDD in OS8.6, giving up 480MB was just too much to ask. Now, with the v1.5.1 patch and a 200GB disk, it still runs perfectly under OSX 10.3.9 and OSX 10.4.11.

I shall test a re-install with the stripped down disk image. I'll also test running it with locked Disk Copy (OS9-10.2) / Disk Utility (10.3 and later) images, rather than load a Toast image to the site. I'll upload overnight if it's successful. I'll do the same for Myth: TFL tomorrow.

Then there's all the expsnsions, many, many CD's full of these. We could upload just the one official one (name escapes me, took me a week to download the 90MB over dialup) and WWII: Recon.

There was also a Green Berets expansion released as commercial software. I've spent many, many, MANY years searching for this. Never found it. If someone here had it ......

Myth II won't work properly without "international small install" and "international large install" - those don't contain the stuff in other languages, but stuff that's in English (whereas localized copies just had different versions of those files in different languages).

As for Myth II plugins, don't put them here. There's already a great site for all the Myth II plugins you could ever want: tain.totalcodex.net

Also, for OS X, get Myth II 1.7 from http://getmyth.com/ and play online on MariusNet for free.

So you are using Disk Copy ... I though you were using Toast or something like that. I'll try to do a custom image for Future Cop LAPD with Disk Copy. If that doesn't work I'll just upload the demo.

So no Myth II huh? And I'm thinking the same it will be the same thing with Myth: The Fallen Lords. It's a shame but I don't complain. That's the way these things are.

I'd love to see:

Star Trek: A Final Unity - a great adventure game
Heroes of Might and Magic I
Comanche
Panzer General
Allied General
C & C

I don't know which of them can still be bought but it's really hard to find them.
Especially Mac versions.

Thx for directing me there. What about the other titles mentioned by me?
Is there a possibility that one day they will be available here?

You are welcome sir lucas. I don't see why not those other titles will be uploaded to this site, maybe sooner than you may think. Just add it to the official list of wanted games and hope for the best.

Definitely not before next week, unfortunately.
Does anyone have the newer ones (CW Pro)?

@kataetheweirdo:

That was a stripped down version without many important features. It was often included with programming books.
I'm looking for full versions, and they seem to be hard to find.

I'm sure I have CW Pro v4, or whatever was current in 96-97. Is ths of interest ?

But, I remember it being 3 CDs. If (or rather "when" I know its at the back of the bookcase in the library) I find it, I could do a cut down version for Mac PPC.

@bertyboy: yes, it is useful ... though IF it is three CDs, that may be a problem Sad

EDIT: Actually it should fit. I'm not sure if both CDs could be compressed into a <400MB ZIP though. It would be nice for manuals to be on S3 though.

I see Iron Helix on the list. I have this, single CD, but it can't be that big, it really is quite a short game. I remember buying this at MacWorld Expo, my first CD software, after waiting 6 months for a CD300e.

Then by all means upload it. It was made by the same guys who later did Bad Mojo, another short adventure that's worth every second of gameplay.

By the way, six months waiting for a CD drive? Wow! I hope it was because you pre-ordered.

I own this one, it's on PC/Mac Hybrid CD (would mean I would create an iso by using Toast to keep the PC partition of the game with the upload on this site).

Nope, that was ordering from (what is now known as) a Premium Reseller, through my university who also put thrpugh £3-4million of Mac orders each year. That's pretty much what ordering Apple kit was like in 1993.
Some say to own a Mac then meant you just had to be rich, nope, you had to be lucky too - I waited 17 weeks for my Mac II order, which was something like "get me a Mac IIsi, Mac IIci or IIfx, whatever you can get, whatever RAM, whatever disk", Then waited another 3 weeks for the extended keyboard (dealer gave me a short keyboard to get by in that time). And a 64MB (4x16MB) RAM upgrade for the IIci was £2000.

Edit:
Good news: Found Iron Helix CD - I had a note in my Old Games folder saying it was in the Falcon MC box.
Bad news: the Disk Copy 6.3.3 disk image is 418MB.
Good news: if I Stuffit, it comes down to 376MB - nearly cooked my MDD stuffing this, damned hot here already- so I'll add the serial and if I can find electronc documentation I'll add it, otherwise I'll scan the manual (36pp B&W) and create a pdf, and add that before Stuffit'ing or Zipping.
Bad news: didn't find a note saying where CodeWarrior Pro v4 was, could be in any box, and I have lots.

I have Dark Seed II CD image, but some of the files including the main installer appear to be damaged. I get error messages and corrupt files on my imac G3. The good news is you can play the game through (classic mode) in OS X, so far. in which you have to turn the music off. There are still sound bugs like the original Dark Seed, but this runs surprisingly well.

If you would like me to upload and see for yourself, I will make sometime to do this.

Cheers.

@bertyboy:
By personal experience I know Apple was lousy with international deliveries during the 90s, so that nightmare that you (and many, many people) lived through was "customer service" back then. It's no wonder they almost went bankrupt in those days. They made all these sweet products and then punished you for purchasing them.

@j_damage•69:
Having the full game without sound is better than having no game at all. Thanks in advance!

I'm sure Civilization II (Gold Edition) used to get a regular mention, I've also found Civilization - Call To Power.

I've tried to create .img files for both in OS9 with Disk Copy 6.3.3, but both fail, maybe due to the embedded audio tracks.
But I can use Toast to make disk images (without the audio) and these compress (with Stuffit) down to under 400MB.

Are these suitable ? I know Call To Power is rather rare - because it sold very few copies, because it was awful at the time (1999) on the G3 hardware. I remember paying a fortune for it, only playing it a few times and feeling annoyed. But Civ4 was exactly the same - trying to play on a top-end G4, but then it is a dream on a Mac Pro.

Also,
Might and Magic I and Might and Magic II, I have the original install disks for these. Should I upload these ? I know the games are already up, but the purists among us may prefer images of the original media. They're on 5 800K floppies, so the downloads from this site look a little small. I'd have to drag my SE out of the cupboard to do this so I though I should see if there is a demand for it.

Prefer Toast to create it (or Hard Disk Utility in Mac OS X is also OK, if no pc partition is on CD - Toast would keep it to be uploaded here). Hm, stuffing them would be OK, but today's time preferred Toast or .cdr images to be zipped (by right-clicking them) if creating them in Mac OS X.

Might and Magic?
Better to upload an installed version, copied to a separate .img file (not .dmg) from within Mac emulator (or real Mac), then stuffed the disk image file with Stuffit. If a game comes with an installer, maybe better to create separate imgs of the floppies of that game.

Civilization II / CTP -
thanks for the pointers on the OSX built-in compression, it's 10x quicker than Stuffit and only slightly larger, still under 400MB. I do have notes on how to get the audio tracks back onto a real CD with the game - original Age of Empires was the same - but the audio for each of these is over 200MB.
I'll upload each of these overnight. Manuals are too big, but the tech tree map is scannable. CTP might actually be nice to play with a recent PPC CPU.

Might and Magic I & II -
What a nightmare going back into OS9 on my MDD, I must have turned on File Sharing and it would hang within seconds of a reboot. Eventually got it fixed, and the transfer of the disk images by LocalTalk (230kb/s) took forever - funny seeing the SE connected to an industrial 16-port Gigabit router (via an old Farallon iPrint adapter).
But got the images done, and back onto the MDD. Installed under vMac. On this site, M&M2 is missing the black and white version, M&M1 is missing the Sounds file. Otherwise version numbers are the same. So I'll upload the more complete versions. One day I may even scan the (colour) maps and put them up. The manuals run into hundreds of pages.

I thought I did, but the first time I uploaded didn't seem to take, maybe I didn't wait for the upload to finish. Did it again last night, so both should now be the full install.

I believe images of original media are ideal. We want to preserve the apps/games, not just make it easy for people to play them on emulators.

thankfuly (unusually for me) I hadn't emptied the trash, so I still have the 5 disk images. I'll SIT them and re-add them to the uploads. I think the same (about preserving original disk images).

Without a doubt: P-51 Mustang.
This is Donald Hill's 3D wireframe World War II followup to Fokker TriPlane.

While Cosmic Osmo & The 7th Guest are FANTASTIC, IMHO they're beyond the purview of Macintosh Garden in that they're CD games & not floppydisk games.

This is an old screensaver - not a game - but i'd like to see it uploaded anyway: Underware

This is seriously the name of the screensaver. Instead of working while you;re away from your computer, it worked in the background windows while you worked... interesting slant.

I'd also like to see I like icon. It was an icon program where you could have animated icons.
