Formac ProTV drivers...anyone?

Hi all,

recently acquired a Formac ProTV card for my PowerMac. Unfortunately without the drivers disc. A search on the Internet for drivers revealed a couple of sites offering a download but all the links are external mirrors to the formac ProTV website which doesn't exist anymore.

Does anyone of you happen to have the drivers around and could kindly upload them to here?

Thanks a lot in advance. Smile

I'm guessing you're after the OS9 drivers? For OS X there's http://xtv.sourceforge.net/ which apparently supports the ProTV.

And for OS9 you just have to be patient with Archive.org, they have a lot of stuff to store and I presume it can't all be on disk at the same time. Here's what I managed to get (downloads via HTTP up to 3MB generally work on Archive.org) :http://web.archive.org/web/20020111190208/http://www.formac.co.uk/html/sets/sup_set.htm.

Nice find bertyboy! The links found online were pointing to a different filename. Drivers seem to be downloadable. I got the 2.6.3 one anyway: http://sharebee.com/46c0aa27

Yeah, I think there's a few downloads on offer, each for a different card, according to the site. There may even be later updates, I picked Jan 11th 2002 but there are many later pages - although at some point they just stopped supporting the card.

2.6.3 was the one I was finding online. Probably the same as Bolkonskij. I did try archive.org but not as well as you did it seems. It's came to the rescue a few times in the past.

If you get a Data Retrieval Error, I think it just means the data is on tape, rather than disk, and a few requests will get the tape robot to load the tape for us.

Oh I didn't know that. I was trying the old file url and formac.com but didn't find the drivers page you did.

Should have been more clear - of course I was asking for the OS 9 drivers. Mea culpa, sorry guys. Anyway, that sharebee link seems to work. Downloading now, if it works properly I'll add the drivers with a description to MacGarden tomorrow. Just in case someone else will be looking for those. Thanks for the help, appreciate it! Smile
