Files missing with MU; list with links

This list is from a search on MU's URL so the linked pages may contain more than one DL link.
Listing is not complete/accurate, but it gives a hint of where to start. If you UL'ed and Edited the original DL link, leave a reply here with the title/titles and I'll edit the list.

I can recognize some of my uploads, (Carmaggedon, Flashback CD ver, Duke Nukem 3D, etc...)
unfortunately I´ve been out of town for more than a year and I didn´t bring those CD´s
with me.

Same for me, I recall one or two files I uploaded and some downloads too.
Unfortunately one NTFS storage device of mine was initialized by mistake with nothing to recover, some time ago.
I´ll look through the remaining archives.
Many thanks for working out that listing, SwedeBear!

Good thread this is just what we need to begin. I've got some of these broken MU files backed up but can anyone suggest a good upload host?

mediafire.com, box.net, etc.

As pointed out in other threads, Knez is willing to store all abandoned files on his wired server.
See macdomain.org for details.

@24bit: got a bit carried away; Arthur's two adventures got alt DL links before I read your changes in the text about MacDomain. Oh well…

SwedeBear, I´m more than happy uploading stuff only once, due to my countryside ADSL.
The most important thing is to see the proceedings about lost files.

Come on fellows, there must be more people with well preserved files from MU around!

Found one CD "Baldur´s Gate" and one "Diablo".
I guess I can make toast images of those, but would really prefer if someone else chimed in.

Adobe Acrobat 5 seems to be here: http://www.mediafire.com/?jo3lyxa3mowvt
with some others from the list maybe?

Avid Videoshop and Norton Personal Firewall must be somewhere - I´ll look on the attic.

Blades of Exile and Nethergate are still purchaseable from Jeff at Spiderwebsoftware.com and probably shouldn't have been availble here in the first place (unless they were demos, which are offered there anyway).

I think No one lives forever 1 is missing up there, I had this one on my external hard drive but it broke Sad

Ok. Went through the list for the first time to sort requests and apps. If there is a link on a app/game topic other tham MU, I edited out the MU link, left a note in the log and marked it in the list. Also if the MU link appears in a forum topic, like a response to an request, rather than on a own page, I´ve just marked the title off from the list. I *think* I´ve covered the most except the games.
New DL links may be found from these MF archives;
http://www.mediafire.com/sheepmyshaver123#myfiles (Sheepmyshavers123?)
http://www.mediafire.com/?3x37c7z1ctj56#myfiles (yksoft's)
if someone wants to have go at the pages. Leave a note in the thread and I´ll update the list.

And a common pray MF doesn´t hit it´s @rse with the ground, like MU…
Now, before someone recognizes what I´ve not done the latest time. Wink

I have the following CD-ROMs:
Syndicate
Flashback
Star Wars: TIE Fighter
Star Wars: X-Wing

I've never imaged a CD before, though. I'll have to get Toast and figure some stuff out. I've also never uploaded to any of the third-party sites. Any suggestions on the best choice? Also, any votes for which disk I tackle first?

Hi, 'Flashback' and 'Syndicate' are no-go here as we were asked to remove anything EA Games. There might somewhere else to host them however *cough*Macdomain*cough* which has been announced in this thread.

Right; Toast is good using 'Copy' and 'Save as a Disc Image'. Then onto compress your image; the best is to use StuffIt, .sit archive but as long as it´s disc images it´s ok using .zip
Depending on the resulting size there is a number of internet hostings; I´m recently turned to 'Uploadstation' by no else reason than it accepts big size and seems to work.

So; Star-Wars here, the rest somewhere else perhaps, .sit/.zip archive and, for example; Uploadstation. There´ll be more recommendations I´m sure. Then edit each page with responding file links URL;

It´s recommended to upload here and, if the size exceeds 400MB, an external server. Though many ups directly to an external.

http://www.4shared.com/ has been favored by other sites with similar agenda to MG. 4shared has been around for a while, stable and no ads; is what is said about it. 200MB for a anonymous uploader and it´s possible to use jDownloader on the links.

If the size exceeds 400MB, you can split it and upload the parts.

Is this an official OK to do uploads this way? Enough room available, too?

Would it be possible to re-upload Mac OS X Server 1.2v3, as I am keen to try this on my Beige G3 Smile

?

I´ll chop the large files with Stuffit5 then, and upload to amazonaws.
Hope all goes well. Will take ages though.

I located "Ring: The Legend of the Nibelungen" on another SheepShaver drive.
The stuffed Toast images are ∼ 500MB too.

Deathground seems to be here: http://www.mediafire.com/?j2bta8d8yxecw
Is someone willing to lend a hand with this file?

What to do with the chopped file? The server responds like this:

The selected file Diablo CD.toast.sit.1 cannot be uploaded. Only files with the following extensions are allowed: sit, tar.gz, tgz, dmg, hqx, bin, cdr, iso, zip, sitx, img.

Filename is: Diablo CD.toast.sit.1

Plenty of room, not so much bandwidth.
@24bit. rename it .1.sit .

Sounds good. I´m 'striking' every link to forum topics from the list. Presented links *should* have been given an own page, methink.

I have a quick question.
I unpacked several files I previously downloaded from here, and renamed .toast files to .iso(was probably unnecessary) on a Windows PC.
Would those be still fit for upload if I repackage them now?

SwedeBear's picture

Yes they should AFAIK. As long as they´ve just been burned, not altered in content.
Thanks! Smile

Should be not a problem. I think the only difference in the file formats between .toast and .iso is the file extension.

I notice that Riven is still to be re-uploaded to an accessible site. Now I know that many members must have these disks and, probably like me, are waiting for the original uploader to do this as a matter of courtesy, or do not have the bandwith to provide an external upload themselves. If necessary I am happy to provide a link that works, but I am waiting for the reason stated above. If the original uploader is not able to re-upload please let us know.

This is from my file archive that I'd like to be re-uploaded somewhere else:

http://www.mediafire.com/?mm4a6d4xatq40lf

It is Snow 2.0, around 300k, shouldn't be too hard to upload to Amazon AWS.

other things I have:

Amazon Trail II – both ZIP and physical CD
Math for the Real World – I may have this one on ZIP, but IIRC it wouldn't load.
Operation Neptune – original CD. Was planning to upload it to my file archive one of these days
PYST – got the ZIP
Railroad Tycoon II Gold – got the ZIP
Riven: The Sequel to Myst – have the CDs, but I went through a LOT of work a few years ago to divide them and upload them to MediaFire, only to find I was missing the Windows partition. Probably worth another try though
Spy Fox in "Dry Cereal" – got the .zip
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force – original CD I have kicking around somewhere (though it looks like someone already got one)
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force Expansion – this too
Star Trek: Starship Creator – and this, as well (even though it blows)
Star Wars Episode I Racer – original CD
The Macintosh Bible (6th Edition) – almost certain I have it (from MCP)
The Oregon Trail CD – have original CD, complete with AOL sample

Yep, there seems to be a problem with the site the game came from.
I added a MF link in comments, as I could not make it work in the proper place.
Hope that will do.
