Executor for OS X

Here's a build of Executor for OS X:

http://www.emaculation.com/executor/Executor.app-20091029.dmg

Executor is an emulator that does not require a ROM. It runs many System 6 era programs, and some SSW 7 era stuff too!

I read all about it on MacScene:

http://macscene.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=659

Edit: Replaced 'xxx 7' with 'SSW 7' - IIGS User

Cool!

In time we might want to mention it in the Guides section, just to give it some lovin' and help support it in the retro computing community.

Here's the Windows version:

http://www.thefoolsgold.com/downloads/windows-executor-forever.ZIP

After the emulator became open source, the guy behind it released an unlimited license code for the pre-compiled one.

Use the serial number 99991004 and the authentication key n9rk57f369byp

It does crash a bit, though.

It's a fun old emulator. For what it's worth, I wrote a setup guide for the Windows version:

http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/executor_setup

And there are occasional source code updates over here:

http://github.com/ctm

But now that MacScene has asploded that nice thread about development of the OS X port has been lost. Sad

@watchsmart: Maybe Archive.org has the thread?

Also, I can't seem to run Executor. I double-click on it, and the official application name is "runexecutor"...and I can't do anything.

Executor (at least the build at the link at the top) requires SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer.)

Runtime libs here. Drag the folder SDL.framework into /Library/Frameworks.

Seems to work, and comes with Risk, a Lemmings demo, a couple of other things.

I've never heard or used this before,
but by looking at the screenshots and the fact that..

Unlike Basilisk II and SoftMac, Executor doesn't require a Macintosh ROM or a copy of Mac OS.

I was like..Huh?

this is really an EXECUTOR! (of Mac programs within its own system)
as the name implies, very Interesting, not an emulator??

it didn't caught my attention until I checked your WebSite,
As soon as the Holidays are over, I'll check it out.

It's neat. It runs a lot of Mac OS 6 and 7 programs.

The company behind it once marketed something called "carbonless copies" to developers which was sort of a built-in emulation that allowed Mac programs to be run in DOS and Windows without the end-user being required to do anything at all.

Temporary Joe,

I'm not sure what to suggest. But macscene.net is back in business. You could pose your question there... and that might even get people interested in the development again!
