Does anyone have any of the old MacHack hacks like UnFinder?

UnFinder was a very cool system hack that allowed 68k/PPC Macs to undo finder actions, a lot like Mac OS X can do now. It never made it officially under OS 9 and below, but it worked well when it made it's appearance back in '99.

These were some great Mac OS hacks that enhanced Mac OS system software. Here's a blurb of of the unfinder hack from pure-mac.com under system enhancements a year after it came out:

Unfinder 1.0

The top hack from the 1999 MacHack conference. Unfinder is a system extension which brings the Macintosh user interface up to 1984 standards by adding an "Undo" command to the Finder. It allows you to undo and redo these actions: copy, delete, duplicate, lock, unlock, make alias, move, new folder, and rename.

There was a MacHack Historical CD released that had the contest hacks from the previous years as well. This would definitely be a find if anyone knows about it and could archive it here Smile

We do have the contents of the 2001 CD (but not the CD image) here:

Thanks for that, MrDay!

Yes, this one moves onward onto OS X hacks, with a few OS 9 sprinkled in before Mac OS left the rest of us, lol Wink

I'm glad we have this one. If anyone else volunteers any of the older ones, especially the Historical CD with all of the oldies tucked in it, that would be the bees-knees.. a true 68k honey-pot for all of us Mac bees! Laughing out loud

especially the Historical CD

Yes, me too. I would love to see the historical collection surface.

Having that 2001 image is good tho', I just got a nice (easy) OS 9 iTunes ResEdit hack from it that's makes iTunes 1.x AppleScriptable.

Sorry to bump this guys, but I've been trying to get my hands on these older MacHack files for a long time. Especially the early to mid-90's CDs. I've never heard of this historical compilation CD mentioned here, but if It really includes all the hacks from each year of the contest that would be great. Failing that we'd have to obtain each years "contest CD", containing all the hacks for that year, one year at a time, which is fine by me.

If someone has a line on any of this I'd be happy to do the leg work of uploading and documenting it for you if you don't have the time to do so yourself.

If anyone knows somewhere online let me know too, but I've searched pretty hard. And MacHack is now defunct so we cant contact them directly.

Is this the CD people are looking for? http://www.machack.com/2k/pr/7_14_99.html It's the MacHack '99 CD that has all the hacks from 1993 through 199 plus the papers on it.

I remember having a copy once upon a time, but sadly can no longer find it Sad If anyone else has the 1999 CD, that's likely the "historical" one people are looking for.
