Can't connect to IRC channel, says "You must identify via SASL"

Hi all,

I can't connect to the Mac Garden IRC channel, whereas I was able to before. I'm using Mango Lite IRC client for iOS, and when I try to connect, there is a message saying "Notice: You must identify via SASL to use this server." I don't understand why it's doing this when it would connect successfully before, nor do I know how to fix the issue. Can anyone help with this?

For reference, I am on a 1st-generation iPad, with iOS v5.1.1 (it can't be updated any further).

Use a compatible IRC client that supports SASL, and make sure your name is registered.

I know my name is registered, and it was working before with my current IRC client, as stated above.

Well, requirements change.
Mango Lite apparently doesn't support SASL, so find a client that does (I recommend Colloquy)

Colloquy is paid, I think, and I unfortunately don't have the money to buy any paid apps. Tongue

Besides, I think Colloquy also requires iOS 8 or later, which my iPad can't run.
